Pours a ruby-tinged black and tight webs of tan lace. Tireless and always skunky with a touch of chalk and hay on the nose. Crisp with spicey-yet-subtle notes of Dewar’s scotch and granny smith apples. Head is a huge, tinted brown and the nose is caramel and malt. Perfectly sour with yeast. One of my all-time favorite beers due to its complexity, smoothness, and intrigue. mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 24, 2007 Tastes like a Belgian golden ale, but with lots more malt; Fairly sweet with a nice spiciness to balance the beer initially; Bitterness is moderate, but picks up in the finish as the malt fades away; Nose is banana and spice; Ruddy brown in color; Sediment just sits suspended in the beer; Light tan head

I’m not ready for this one..................... anders37 (4601), Malmö, Sweden

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2007 Bottle (from Bitter Virtue). Dark colour. Caramelly malts but fairly dry. Light fruits. Earthy spice. Refreshingly tart finish. Doesnt show strength. On the whole pretty good but somehow quite unusual. psuhorrorshow (1), USA does not count | 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Apr 14, 2007 A rich and very tastey treat for the holiday season. At 10 % abv, it also leaves a nice, warm feeling. Too bad it only comes once a year with Christmas. NobleSquirrel (1106), Chicago, Illinois, USA
