Commercial Description:
A very dark and entirely unique holiday seasonal beer, at a whopping 10% alc. by volume. Reportedly spiced with honey, caramel, coriander, black pepper, and other secret ingredients. The alcohol content probably goes a long way toward explaining that very warm and satisfied feeling one finds on the very first sip. A rich, dark-flavored beer with lots of deep-roasted chocolate malt, but still fairly dry, with a hint of sourness at the core. It is very spicy, with some winter spruce flavor in the bargain. The wild yeast sourness also adds to its welcoming character.

"Murky brown color, slight orange hues. Rather large head for 10% ABV, great lacing too. Aroma was of strong cloves, other fruits, other spices and pine, vinegar, almost a flemish sour aroma. The flavor was spice overload, cloves most notable, cinnamon, nutmeg, even roses. Alcohol was not bad for this level, hid well. Some slight sour aspects to the aftertaste. Mouthfeel was slightly acidic. The spicing was way too overdone, leaving this one in disappiontment."

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a super huge light brown foamy head with excellent retention. Aroma of sweet candy, spices which may includes some pepper and some sourness. Taste is quite eclectic with something that resemble like sweet candy at first and then I got it with a mix between pepper, sour malt and dry finish form some weird hops. Body is lighter then expected for such a beer and alcohol is well hidden. Not bad overall but not great either. It just seems like too many things are going on at once.

Robe brune claire surmontée d’une mousse beige qui s’estompe. Arômes de poivre et de caramel. Saveurs de poivre, de caramel et de houblon amérisant.

deep red. small creamy tan head. lovely spicy, cinnamon, christmas aroma. pine, coriander, cinnamon, anise...basically the commercial description says it all. a slight salty sourness in the finish. my favorite fantome so far. this would be perfect for the holiday season.

Pours a dark red/brown color with a minimal tan head. Huge spicy nose with some sweet malt notes. Funky, earthy sweetish character dominates, with a backup of spice and maybe anise... ? A nice treat in the middle of summer.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of spices, roast, and alcohol. Flavor is roasted malts, spices, and citrus. I hate this style, but this is drinkable.
