3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle 75 cl) Deep, dark brown with a warm, red Christmas glow. Gigantic, rocky head. For a 10% beer this is surprisingly dry with a pronounced bitterness. But once again it’s the unique spicyness that stands out. I sense pepper and...and...? Gets unclear, almost muddy if you pour the huge sediment. 210901

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottled. Dark brown/black colour with brown huge head. Aroma of cherry, fruits, barnyard and some raosted malt. Flavour is sweet raisins, plum, toffeee, fruit, spices, roast and some smooth "leathery" notes. Very complex, but pleasant. Alcohol gives a small kick in finish. Long aftertaste of malt, caramel, raisins and sourness. Totally lovely!

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2006 Corked bottle 2006-04-17, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Dark brown color. Aroma of malt and candi sugar. The taste is malt with some chocolate and caramel. Nothing special.
Corked bottle, 2003-05-01, 7-5-7-3-14=36
Brown-amber color. Aroma of wood, light malt and Porto wine, bread. Dry mouth, more than the alcohol content may suggest; black pepper, some sourness, typical for Fantôme, a touch of wood. Bitter sour final. I don’t go crazy for Fantôme…

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
75 cl bottle bought at Delerium, Brussels: Vintage. Pours unclear orange/amber with a little stable white head. Aroma is very spicy & yeasty - typical fantome. Taste is peppery, roasted malts, dusty/earthy, sour, perfume. Very dry. Body is a bit thin. This one we had a hard time figuring out whether we liked or not! (BB) A little over the top I think!
