Commercial Description:
A very dark and entirely unique holiday seasonal beer, at a whopping 10% alc. by volume. Reportedly spiced with honey, caramel, coriander, black pepper, and other secret ingredients. The alcohol content probably goes a long way toward explaining that very warm and satisfied feeling one finds on the very first sip. A rich, dark-flavored beer with lots of deep-roasted chocolate malt, but still fairly dry, with a hint of sourness at the core. It is very spicy, with some winter spruce flavor in the bargain. The wild yeast sourness also adds to its welcoming character.

Sour nose but with a balance of fruit sweetness. The overall taste is like a sweet-n-sour. Short finish with a medium body. At the very end there is this type of red vinegar taste -- really underlying and faint but noticable.

Pours a hazy dark gold/brown. It has a funky dryness with cherries, straw, nuts, sweet fruit, and bread. Hints of citrus and herbal hops. Interesting saison no doubt.

Bottle. Nose was way to sweet, as was the flavor. Yeasty as as well. This would have been better had I aged this.

750ml corked bottle: My #500! What a great beer! The corkk pulls out with a loud "pffft". The color is that of cloudy brown with a hint of red to it. Ther is a thick, creamy tan head on it. Lingers for a pretty good time. Very interesting bouquet. I smell fruit and spices, but they are very blended and complex. Somewhat sourness, and maybe a hint of caramel coming out of the others. The taste has a very interesting sour sweetness to it. Just as complex as the aroma. This is a truly unique and interesting beer. My thanks to everyone who suggested this as my #500: it was the perfect choice!!!

Mon dieu! Une biere tres magnifique! Warming, acidic, floral, complex, bla bla bla - I just got lost in it and started forgetting about words and descriptors and let my senses take over the euphoric state I was approaching. Thank you Fantome.

Tap @ Belmont Station... Poured deep, reddish with a white head. Aroma was far off from the flavors. Like urine and bitter alcohol. However, the sourness and spiciness of the brew’s taste were wonderful and countered the aroma nicely. It was well carbonated and had chalky malt notes in the finish.

Sour, tart dark skin fruit aroma. Prune juice appearance with a tan head. Complex flavor that developes as you drink it. The spice is subtle and overshadowed by the sour flavor. Thin in body. Alcohol is well hidden.

Dark red-brown with a large, off-white head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Musty, spicy (cinnamon) aroma with hints of alcohol and green grapes. Grapes and plums dominate the malty, cobwebby rich flavor. Very full mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Finish has a definite cinnamon hotness to it that lingers for quite a while. Alcohol is well hidden in the flavor.
