COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very dark and entirely unique holiday seasonal beer, at a whopping 10% alc. by volume. Reportedly spiced with honey, caramel, coriander, black pepper, and other secret ingredients. The alcohol content probably goes a long way toward explaining that very warm and satisfied feeling one finds on the very first sip. A rich, dark-flavored beer with lots of deep-roasted chocolate malt, but still fairly dry, with a hint of sourness at the core. It is very spicy, with some winter spruce flavor in the bargain. The wild yeast sourness also adds to its welcoming character.

deep red. small creamy tan head. lovely spicy, cinnamon, christmas aroma. pine, coriander, cinnamon, anise...basically the commercial description says it all. a slight salty sourness in the finish. my favorite fantome so far. this would be perfect for the holiday season.

Cloudy reddish brown pour with a hazel-brown frothy head. Chocolately cherry flavors initially soothe the tongue and the finish is that of a nice medium roast coffee. Very tasty, and could almost pass for a raspberry lambic.

bottle birthday present from unique beer: pours a very dark brown not quite black with a small off white head. aroma is everywhere spicey, sweet fruity like cherry definetly cherry and sour cherry to me. flavour is much smoother than i thought it would be very nice with notes of cherry, very earthy hops also. finishes woody and dry with some spice. very complex, but enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2011 bottle, pours hazy dark amber, aroma of funk, barnyard hay, hint of sugary sweetness, raisens, dates, dark fruit, flavor is musty, drying in the back of the throat, some sugar, caramel. you can taste the pepper. de-light-ful

750 mL bottle. Dark brown opaque pour with a tan head. Interesting and complex aroma. Lots of fruit - berries and citrus as well as chocolate. Complex taste to complement the aroma. Sour with some sweetness. Lots of cherry. Bitter malt finish. Nice balanced flavor.

Deep brown colour nice head. Very malty, yeasty aroma. Very unique flavour. Sweet candy like aroma, and a finish dominated by brett yeast. Strondg and comples with a very spicy flavour. Quite frankly this beer is awesome!

Drank this on Christmas Eve while making cookies and listening to Holiday music with my girlfriend. This without a doubt is one of my favorite Christmas beers. Perfectly balanced in most aspects. Wonderful sour aroma without being too strong. Pours a terrific red/brown. As for taste, like I said the balance is great, awesome sourness, nice weird yeasty-ness, slight spice and a good mix of a roasty malt top this amazing beer off. All this while being slightly dry and refreshing enough to make me wish I had bought 2 of them. Merry Christmas!

One of the most complete, complexed and balanced beers I have ever had. Sour but not overbearing, with a finish that leaves you refreshed and ready for the next sip. Easy to drink an entire bomber and still want more. It is a must buy whenever you are lucky enough to find it.

750ml bottle, i believe this is from 2006. pours muddy ruby with creamy tan head into fantome tulip. nose is oaky vanilla, hints of funky brett notes, caramel and chocolate notes, a spice i can’t put my finger on, and pepper. awesome nose. flavor has that great fantome house character, caramel and slight cocoa, hints of spice, touch of sourness, slight brown sugar finish. the alcohol doesn’t even warm. wow this is so light and drinkable. each sip really begs for another. at times it reminds me of Jolly Pumpkin Fuego but this is uniquely fantome and one of their finest.

Clouded ruddy amber dark murk with a soapy head of off-white. Pears and vinous notes with currants, cream, raisins and gentle brandy. Creamy and nutty. Peculiar leathery wood yand earth, with Sanka coffee. A note of orange peel dipped in milk chocolate, with a rough cheese (something pungent, soft and french) mingling with oats and grain from a horse barn. The delectable wild spontaneous lambic-like qualities really light me up, with some touches of sourness, cherries and soft leather. Delicious! Palate is sweet, but the alcohol was pleasently hidden until the finish, with nutty dryness. A little thin texture.
