probstblueribbon (2918) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 30, 2009
0,75l bottle shared with Josh, served cold in a tulip glass. Date unknown.

App.: Cloudy deep orange-amber with a fair white head. Aroma: Lots of herbs, oregano(?), somewhat fruity, apricots and berries, very light funk and organic acids, yeast, celery. Palate: Medium-ish body, fairly lively effervescence. Flav.: Bright tart fruits, some citrus, definite green herbs, spicy, a little funky; slightly off-dry with good tang and some bitterness.

A nice thirst quencher.

Lubiere (9998) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 27, 2009
A hazy orange amber ale with a thin receeding off white head. A pleasant sweet flower and honey aroma, with light yeasty notes. In mouth, a sourish malt with light lemony notes, wheaty, nothing special. 750 ml bottle from Bieropholie, tasted June 21, 2009.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with little head. Aroma is slight oregano and some menthol (love that smell). The oregano is defnitely more restrained than in this year’s Ete, which is a definite plus. Taste of more oregano, Fantome tartness, and lots of yeast at the back. A bit lively on the palate. Another great Fantome beer.

750ml bottle shared by MaxxDaddy, who brought it back from Belgium. Oh man this one was strange, yet still was undeniably Fantome. Pours a very cloudy hazy almost bright orange with a medium head- soapy, low lace. Aroma is intense with both a heavy garden and pizza spice, (yet les than Strange Ghost) oregano, peppery, earth and lemon grass, and then a huge hit of orange and citrus with a tart lacto and earthy kick to the nose. Flavor is instantly big orange and citrus with spices coming through everywhere- peppery oregano, leafy earthy, with lemon thyme mintiness and fruit loopiness. Finishes a slight astringent but has a strange fantome funky tartness in the end. This Fantome has a lot of the tartness, yet isnt quite sour yet. Crazy, but Im not that into it- and Id probably have a tough time drinking the whole bottle.

Bottle generously shared by MaxxDaddy. This was a fantastic saison, highlighting all the best of Fantome. Wonderfully complex aroma, showcasing a rich minty/menthol character, leafy tobacco, lemony pepper and yeasty notes. Tart, bark, bitter flavor, with a dry golden malt complexity. Punchy tartness from the Fantome yeast adds layers. Rich. Delicious.

Bottle, thanks Dany! Pours a neat orange with a small head and tiny bubbles that slowly cascade up. Strange look. Aroma is almost nothingness -- there’s a very faint orange presence and a bit of an herbal edge, but it’s remarkably muted. Mildly tart in the mouth, with a long, tart finish. Very herbal and almost numbing in the mouth. Hard to put a finger on, but pretty enjoyable. Carbonation is really nice. There are no hard or off flavors, and it’s kind of an oddity.

Bottled (Pikkulintu, BBE 2014), Hazy amber color, small white head, floating yeast particles. Pencil-woody aroma with light sour note and some fruits. Very sour flavor, some oregano notes, some lemon. Interesting, different Fantome. Beer #5600!

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is oregano, tomatosauce, alcohol, and yeast.Flavour is just tomato sauce with some extreemely sweet spices and garlic fried. Shit for flavour. Not in a beer.

750ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, Fruit Weeks 2009)
Very light fruity aroma, some cola and lemonade. Sourish palate, light and crisp. Pleasant carbonation. Herby bent to the taste, but still quite lemonadey too. With yeast, there’s more sherbet. Pleasantly malty body, but not grabbing me. Sourness is most pleasant.
