3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sammy (6125) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 8, 2009
Lautre Oeil, with Diogene. Bright orange colour and a bubbly head. here are carbonation like bubbles present, yet there is little carbonation. A little lace remains. I never thought vinegar would taste so great, so this is extreme beer that is not hopped up. I like oregeno in any case, and this was unique, drinkable, and worth seeking out for sour fans, yet it is not too sour.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Eructoblaster (2122) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 27, 2009
Bottle - 750ml. Pours a hazy amber body with low carbonation and a thin off-white foamy head. Strong hoppy aroma with fruity, floral and herbal hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Taste is slightly misbalanced and lacks both robustness and complexity. Ends with a short bitter/sour finish. Average Saison.

Flav.: Bright tart fruits, some citrus, definite green herbs, spicy, a little funky; slightly off-dry with good tang and some bitterness.
A nice thirst quencher.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lubiere (6988) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 27, 2009
A hazy orange amber ale with a thin receeding off white head. A pleasant sweet flower and honey aroma, with light yeasty notes. In mouth, a sourish malt with light lemony notes, wheaty, nothing special. 750 ml bottle from Bieropholie, tasted June 21, 2009.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MaxxDaddy (306) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours hazy orange with little head. Aroma is slight oregano and some menthol (love that smell). The oregano is defnitely more restrained than in this year’s Ete, which is a definite plus. Taste of more oregano, Fantome tartness, and lots of yeast at the back. A bit lively on the palate. Another great Fantome beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 21, 2009
750ml bottle shared by MaxxDaddy, who brought it back from Belgium. Oh man this one was strange, yet still was undeniably Fantome. Pours a very cloudy hazy almost bright orange with a medium head- soapy, low lace. Aroma is intense with both a heavy garden and pizza spice, (yet les than Strange Ghost) oregano, peppery, earth and lemon grass, and then a huge hit of orange and citrus with a tart lacto and earthy kick to the nose. Flavor is instantly big orange and citrus with spices coming through everywhere- peppery oregano, leafy earthy, with lemon thyme mintiness and fruit loopiness. Finishes a slight astringent but has a strange fantome funky tartness in the end. This Fantome has a lot of the tartness, yet isnt quite sour yet. Crazy, but Im not that into it- and Id probably have a tough time drinking the whole bottle.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 puzzl (3093) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 18, 2009
Bottle generously shared by MaxxDaddy. This was a fantastic saison, highlighting all the best of Fantome. Wonderfully complex aroma, showcasing a rich minty/menthol character, leafy tobacco, lemony pepper and yeasty notes. Tart, bark, bitter flavor, with a dry golden malt complexity. Punchy tartness from the Fantome yeast adds layers. Rich. Delicious.
