Aroma is sourdough, coriander, anise, orange rind scrapings and lemon drops. Citrusy oranges make their presence felt early on in the flavor profile. Nutmeg mixes with a profound tartness to add yet another nuance to this little gem. Sweet and sour - and subtly spiced – matched with a husky malt bill to fall back on. Somewhat effervescent. Long, bitter finish accompanied by orange crème. Nice. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 15, 2005 Pours murky medium brown with off white head. Initial aroma is sour but turns to spice as it warms. Flavor is all spice, cinnamon and ginger. Would be a perfect winter beer, IMO. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2005 Bottle: Bottle courtesy of Styles. Very sweet aroma with some cinnamon and spice. Pours a cloudy reddish-orange with barely any transparency. Small off-white head. Sweet and fruity (cherries and melon) and lightly tart with tons of spice. The funky sour melon and spice finish doesn’t appeal to me all that much. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2005 Poured cloudy light gold, edging on brown. Heaps of yeast. Aroma is yeasty, spicy and sweet. Flavour is a wonderful balance of citrus, vanilla, fresh grains, spices and yeasty bread. Really easy drinking, wonderfully smooth. Great stuff! highalphafan (18), albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 21, 2005 This bottle was less carbonated than I thought it would be. Pouring fairly aggressively still yielded little head. The beer itself is an opaque brown color. Wonderful nose with the spiciest scent I’ve had in a beer to date. This quality is carried out througout the entire drinking experience. This is my first Fantome. Can’t wait to try more. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2005 Reddish-brown body with a fading, effervescent grayish head. Wild aroma of vanilla bean, cream soda, orange sherbert, a funky lactic quality, and some oxidative notes. Tart, cherry yogurt flavor with a horsey finish. Creamy texture. This particular beer was much too funky and out-of-control. Fantome should be disqualified from RateBeer for major consistency problems.
