1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
A second go at it. Vint 2013 (prolly)
This is murky and light amber with a solid quilt of toasted cream foam. Smells primarily of skunk and bandaids. Then some soil, hay, clay, shit and leather. Flavor is plastic, bandaid, bitter, well, quite frankly this beer is shit, and tastes like a tack store with manure to boot. Medium bodied with moderate carb and of dry. A really shitty beer.
Vint 2012(?) 3.35
Pours amber with diaphany and a solid white surface character. Nose with vanilla, sweet grain I get from most Fantome’s, and plenty of pepper and clay; also a surprsingly skunked character. Sweet flavor with the pepper tones and a sweet grainy character and some clay flavor. Full, over full body with not only a full body (poor for this style) and hi carb and a semi dry finish. Not that intriguing, not that great (at least for what the hunt requires in my life)

Bomber at WTWBA. Hazy light orange pour with a white head. Sweet and tart - grassy and citrus. Tasty beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Taster from two friendly Americans we met at the brewery, THX! Shared with Mathieu87.
APPEARANCE: clouded dark blond beer, small unstable white head.
NOSE: herbs, "forest"-like, sweet, wood.
TASTE: very sweet, caramel, wood.
Decent in total, but nothing special.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle in the campgrounds after the 9th Belgian Brew Fest in Lovell, ME. Nose is fruity and lightly funky basement. Notes of floral hops and some type of citrus zest. The flavor is straight forward and the same as the aroma. Medium body and dry texture. Good balance of citrus and light funk. This brew was a nice surprise and refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a strong note of woodiness and cheese (a hint of blue) with underlying light flora and sweet grains. Flavor has a good amount of musty as well with light cheese and wood notes with a bit of underlying light sweetness and light floral.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Really a classic Fantome beer in that you tend not to have any idea what the hell you’re drinking as you quickly drain your glass. Pours amber and slightly hazy. Weird smoky notes, funky yeast, grass, a hint of tartness and fruit, and a nice funky dry finish. As always, unique.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml served into a Duvel tulip
A - Pours a hazy golden brass with 3 fingers of eggshell head that clings to the glass.
S - Lemon was the first thing I smelled when I popped the cork. Dank and sour lemon peels, sweet malt, lemon pound cake, and dry hay, dried apricots, lavender and other herbal notes in the background. Basement funk is clean buts it’s clean if that makes any sense. Maybe it’s the lemon.
T - Spicy Belgian yeast, lemons, pears, apples, honey, the malts seem very sweet and bready but there is plenty of spice play to offset it. Almost has a lactic tartness to it. The spice seems floral and builds all the way to the finish before turning herbal for a very dry finish. Has an herbal/lemon/medicinal aftertaste.
M - Heavy side of medium body with ample creamy carbonation.
This one is heavily spiced and sweeter than expected. Think spicy lemon pound cake. Funk is there but it’s mild. This is a different animal warm so let it sit a bit. Also if you pour the sediment at the end, stone and some tropical fruit really come out and I think it actually makes it better. (Review is from no sediment)

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Pour is a murky orange, lots of yeast, and a huge off white head. Tons of funk on the nose, very floral, almost a hint of red grape, some sweet fruit, and slightly grassy. Very funky taste as well, very smokey (peat) too and that was very unexpected, musty grass notes, piney floral notes, and some very soft citrus notes. Definitely the most unique saison I’ve ever had. Don’t know how well the peat smokiness works, but it’s still tasty.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle - Clear yellow pour with amber highlight and a big fluffy white head. Nose is dry and yeasty, with hay, a bit of bubblegum, and some menthol/herbal/pine resin notes. Taste is too sharp, with a boozy/pine note that lasts through the long finish. A bit of tropical fruity sweetness, a hint of cocoa, and some dusty yeast, but the sharpness is the dominant trait here that I just can’t get past. I think I really could have gotten into this one if not for that aspect.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 750ml bottle at BXL East. Pours golden apricot with huge fluffy, carbonated white head. Terrific lacing. Aroma is bright and fruit of citrus, stone fruits, grass, and some slight funk. Taste is bright citrus, slight smoke, bitter hops, pepper and Belgian yeast. Finish is clean and bright and slightly warming from the alcohol. Carbonation on the higher side. Really nice.
