Apr 22, 2004 Didn't strike me remotely as a saison, but then again this was different from anything else I had ever run into before. Murky copper orange with a big, loose head that faded completely. Aroma faintly of oranges and an almost barleywine like malt. The flavor started citrusy and sour, became abruptly sweet with thick malts, and then notes of cedar and toffee dominated the finish. Very rich in body and flavor, this was an interesting brew. Sort of like a malty Scotch ale having a collision with a wit.

Apr 12, 2004 Cloudy orange brown color, thick off-white head, tiny particles. Aroma is cheesy, fruity orange, spicy. Sweet yeasty and spicy taste, quite complex. Lasting palate. Nice brew.

Apr 12, 2004 Updated: Apr 17, 2004Cloudy golden coloured, huge head, lots of carbonation. Very cheesy aroma and flavour, a lot like Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux. Saison is not really my kind of style i think, but this is ok.

Apr 12, 2004 Updated: Oct 15, 2007Aroma is yeasty, cheesy, citrus and very full. Cloudy, orange coloured with a thick white head. Very beautifull! Taste is yeasty, spicy, citrus and sweet-sour. Aroma is definately better than taste.

Apr 3, 2004 It is early spring of 2004 as I am tasting this Fantome Winter Saison '98. It has aged nicely. At first somewhat musty from being in the bottle. Opened up nicely. Deep brown in color. Like a fignuiten cookie, somewhat fig like, with raison, and bread like characteristics. Paired nicely with blue cheese.

Mar 19, 2004 Murky light brown in color with ruby highlights and a medium off-white head. Aroma is of yeast,bready,fruity and alcohol notes.Flavor is very warming,rich alcohol,chocolate,nuts and yeasty.Finishes dry.

Mar 18, 2004 Pours a murky orange/brown color with a huge rocky large off-white head that settles down to a nice persistent thin head. Deep rich complex aroma that includes bready yeast, chocolate, light fruity apples, and cask wood. Full bodied with light carbonation. Ends dry with a tad of sweetness. A mellow beer, that should be your first beer of the night.

Mar 16, 2004 Medium orange color, very cloudy. Medium head. Aroma is fruity, estery and sweet. Medium bodied. Fruity and sweet. Mildly spicy and gets smoother as the taste goes on. Yeasty and bright. Very lively and soft carbonation. Nice combination of spiciness and citrus. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
