Chestnut brown color, steady beige head. Strong spicey aroma - very difficult to describe what spices - black pepper and muscot etc. Medium to full-bodied. Sticky malty with red currant juice, black pepper and yeast - some sweetish notes. As always ... interesting Fantome ... not necessary the best beer in the world. Bov (5445), Bienne, Switzerland

Love the look on this one, an easy 5. Kind of weak aroma, but pleasant. Fermented apples, spices, and a sweet, melony touch. This is impressive. Really delicate flavors of sour citrus fruits, pine needle, and a really cool barnyard funk. The only detracting note is a slight metallic one, which I’m really sensitive to after drinking a Saison du Pipaix. Very soft and creamy in the mouth. Love it. This was my first Fantome beer and it’s a great one. after4ever (2738), Brier, Washington, USA

Loose sudsy off-white film and foam. Anise and other lightly tangy notes show up rather unexpectedly in nose, along with some bright grassy notes. Fizzy medium body. Lemon, vinegary tang, a little bit of grass there as well. BillKismet (1937), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Orange-amber with a lively body. Piquant hoppiness, with slight skunk, summer grass, and pollent. This brew is redolent of a summer night, yet oddly, it’s there winter offering. Something got lost in translation. Medicinal and herbal flavors entwine along with some skunkiness. Tannic tea finish. Interesting, but for Fantome, this one was a bit off for me. pantani (1900), Salinas, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Nice amber color, white head. Aroma is dried fruit, light sourness, horseblanket.
Taste is a light rye like taste, spice, light funk, some malty sweetness, aged white cheese. WISEGUY572 (1245), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

This is a big winter ale with some sweet spicing, drinkable but not remarkable in any way. Fin (3415), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, 6th March 09, consumed 15-03-09 Pours deep reddy brown, touch hazy and with an off white head. Aroma tingly with sourness but also Christmas spices. This is sour in the mouth with nutmeg and cinnamon and maybe a touch of clove perhaps. Its tangy and different but not as nice as some that I’ve had from Fantome. A6 A4 F6 P3 OV13 3.2
