750 ml bottle at BA Speedway line tasting (no idea who brought it). Poured a gold-copper color with a small white head. Aroma of musty-sour fruits, sweet spices and some funk. The flavor was unusual with flavors I really could not identify but were definitely fruity and delicious. The mouthfeel was silky smooth. The finish was long and dry with lingering grapes. Overall: A very different saison--one that I will have to retry in a more favorable setting.

Bottle - Clear yellow pour with amber highlight and a big fluffy white head. Nose is dry and yeasty, with hay, a bit of bubblegum, and some menthol/herbal/pine resin notes. Taste is too sharp, with a boozy/pine note that lasts through the long finish. A bit of tropical fruity sweetness, a hint of cocoa, and some dusty yeast, but the sharpness is the dominant trait here that I just can’t get past. I think I really could have gotten into this one if not for that aspect.

750ml bottle at BXL East. Pours golden apricot with huge fluffy, carbonated white head. Terrific lacing. Aroma is bright and fruit of citrus, stone fruits, grass, and some slight funk. Taste is bright citrus, slightly smoke, bitter hops, pepper and Belgian yeast. Finish is clean and bright and slightly warming from the alcohol. Carbonation on the higher side. Really nice.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow orange with large frothy off white head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma is feet, rubber, and funk. Thin mouthfeel with light fruit and strong funk and spice. Decent

I’ll add my two cents.......YUCK...... fidelis83 says it best Cloudy orange pour with a huge, creamy, off white head that. Smells of funk, peat, mineral, Band-Aid, sweet, figgy dark fruits, stone fruit, hints of banana, floral honey and musty hay. Flavor is peat, iodine, mineral, musty hay, lots of Band-Aid, leather, fallen leaves, lots of interesting funky flavors, dug up tree roots, wet leather, old tobacco, musty old plants, then some spice, fig and honey sweetness to the finish along with lingering, Band-Aid, iodine, woody must and general earthy, musky funk. Medium body, creamy, syrupy and slick body, with a surprisingly bright, blanketing carbonation. Overall it’s a difficult beer to judge, there is just so much going on here, some good, some bad (huge Band-Aid presence), huge complexity, hides it’s ABV% well, and c’mon, peat smoked Saison?

Such an odd taste on this, like nothing I’ve had before. Smells of oranges, band-aids and rubbing alcohol. Tastes similar, with added white pepper, maybe tamarind? Long astringent aftertaste. And yet it’s not bad, and especially smooths out once your palate adjusts.

This would be the second time I have tasted this beer and I was really surprised how different it is from the first time. The most recent tasting (2/10/13) offered a smokey undertone to an ester laced full bodied beer. I enjoy a bit of smoke and peat. So im happy with it.
