Cloudy orange pour with a huge, creamy, off white head that. Smells of funk, peat, mineral, Band-Aid, sweet, figgy dark fruits, stone fruit, hints of banana, floral honey and musty hay. Flavor is peat, iodine, mineral, musty hay, lots of Band-Aid, leather, fallen leaves, lots of interesting funky flavors, dug up tree roots, wet leather, old tobacco, musty old plants, then some spice, fig and honey sweetness to the finish along with lingering, Band-Aid, iodine, woody must and general earthy, musky funk. Medium body, creamy, syrupy and slick body, with a surprisingly bright, blanketing carbonation. Overall it’s a difficult beer to judge, there is just so much going on here, some good, some bad (huge Band-Aid presence), though I will have to give it a pretty positive score, huge complexity, hides it’s ABV% well, and c’mon, peat smoked Saison?!?!?

Sampled at ESBLS. It poured a hazy golden/amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of spices, some light spice from the yeast, a little fruit, a good amount of pale and caramel malts, and a light dough/toffee note. The taste was similar with some hints of tartness.

Sampled at ESBLS. Dingy goldenish. A blotchy off white head. A bit of funky earthy lemon. Somehow. Some grass and pale malts. A bit of earth and bitterness. This is a nice beer. A good summer time drink.

Thank God, this looks like the last fantome. This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. There was a light glossy orange color with some bronzed over brownish sort of color. There was barely any head and lacing. The smell had a leathery funky and overly sour. The taste was putrid as I thought I was tasting shoe leather from the late 1800’s. The palate was super dry as it seemed to have sucked my mouth dry and wounded my taste buds to have this beer to be somewhat enjoyable. Overall, I’m so glad to be done with fantome as I will never try any of their beers ever again.

Pours cloudy dark golden. Nose is malts with some sourness. Taste is standard saison with spices and lots of sourness. I don't like the combination of the acidity in this beer.

2013 bottle from ølbutikken. cloudy orange, fluffy offwhite head. mild aroma, dough, faint sourness, very mild, not that saison like. flavor is sort of malty, faint spicy notes, more like a typical belgian strong ale than anything saison like. very smooth. disappointing bc of the style, but in general probably quite drinkable malty belgian beer. beneath the malts are quite some interesting notes that will draw the beer up on the scale if you take time to savour these notes. citrussy, red fruity notes. Also if you like smooth, this one is awesomely smooth...
