3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
I’ve continued to not buy Fantome beers. This is one of my last bottles. Date says 2010, enjoyed in a tulip.
A - Very big carbonation on the pour, champagne like bubbles fill the glass. Bronze appearance. Fades to a finger head from a 4 finger in a matter of seconds.
S - Very yeasty with caramel and a touch of charcoal on the nose.
T - Not bad up front. You get a sweet candy with caramel and honey and a touch of citrus and grassiness. Minor pie crust and tart tangerine tastes. Middle and finish are a mix of green tea and charred oak with peated moss and cigarette butts.
M - Medium body and mouth fill. residual sweetness at the finish.
O - Overall, it’s not a bad saison but the peat, charcoal and tea notes really take this down a few ticks.

A - pours reddish amber with low white head with nice sticky retention S - a simple Belgian with overripe apples and candied sugar. The yeasts stand strong with the overly sweet backbone. M - average carb, medium body with a simple unenticing body. Palate is muddled and underwhelming. T - taste is a very metallic tinge to a fiercely Belgian beer. Heavy on the overripe apples, candied sugars and Belgian yeasts. O - sticky sweet and muddled 3.1

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rödbrun i färgen offwhite skum. Doftar hallonbåtar, hallonsylt, lite maltigt bakom allt hallon. Smakar lätt syrlig hallon, gelehallon, unken malt, syrlig ton. Bitter avslutning.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael.
Sampled alongside twenty other Fantôme beers.
The beer appears a very hazy yellow, with virtually no head or lacing.
The aroma is something to behold. I’m not sure if I love it, despise it, or both. Since I keep sticking my nose in the glass searching for an answer, it must be alright. Ripe onions and funky apricots amid a yeasty, floral base. Truly unique.
The flavor is tart, sour, intense. Apricots and Vidalia onions. Sharp and puckering. Acetic. This beer sinks into your cheeks.
Medium bodied with low carbonation. Lip smacking and cheek burning tartness.
Overall, a unique brew, and worth a try, though certainly not my favorite Fantôme of the lot.
