Wow! Sophisticated palate creamy and edges of silk, hempy frankincense aroma, aged musty earth flavors, slightly acidic. Wow.

Muck more subduded for Fantome, Hazy lemon body with a swathy head, light summer fuits in the nose. Bright flavor that is more of a feeling of tang and buzzing backed up with a dry fruitiness. Finishes very quickly and dry.

Pours a light, hazy golden orange color with a light and persistent white head. Probably the light and most accessible Fantome I've had, this was a refreshing change. Sweet citrus, bitter hops, herbs and spice. A dry, light and refreshing beverage, this was a unique Fantome that did not attack my taste buds, though I do enjoy that as well.

This beer got "the look". Orange color on the beer and light colored foam. The aroma tuch mature banana. The taste got a perfect balance. First it taste fresh citrus, then it goes to a very dry bitterness on the end. It calls for more!

Dull orange coulour, yeast in suspension. Thick deposit on bottom. Orangey head, too. Yeast and spices whilst pouring. Fresh citrussy smell. Taste is at first fresh citrussy, going over orange rind to bitter herbs, shrubbery. Finer finish, tingling. I cannot find much malt - or body for that matter. Very refreshing, yes - the taste and carbonation help. The whole character is directed towards a summer ale - which is probably why the label shows an Ardennes snowscape... or it wouldn't be Prignon for real.

A dark golden color. Sour aroma with some alcohol. The flavor is slightly sour with a nice bitterness and yeasts. A good refreshing flavor.

Huge yeasty nose with a very subdued barnyard aroma. Nice malty/biscuity body with hints of sour apricots. Another great beer from the people at Fantome.

Smells like burning hair. A light golden color, with moderate head. Very sticky, flavor hold on and wont let go. Some hints of bitter vegeatbles, maybe carrots.

Light gold color. Medium head. Aroma is malty and slightly citrus. A medium bodied beer. Malty, yeasty and slightly grainy. Some fruit flavors, peaches. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Not the typical Fantome label.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 9, 2003
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2004 Head is initially huge, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately hoppy (lemon, herbs, grass, flowers), lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of orange peel, twigs, oregano. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Perhaps the driest Fantome of all? Certainly more so than I expected (and remember from a previous year’s sample). But that’s not a complaint, just something to consider when choosing the Fantome for the evening. Certainly seems to be spiced with something, a woody herb or spice of some kind.
