[Bottle #13 in the Kolding Blindtasting, 20th June 2009]
[vintage 2003]
Pours hazy, pale yellow with a nice, creamy, white head. Super lacings. Aroma has pepper, other spices, brett, sweet malts. Just wonderful. Low carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, quite spicy, light grassy, pepper and grainy, bready malts. Very nice, just sad that the flavour doesn’t quite live up to the aroma.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - JUN 25, 2009
Cloudy golden with a small white head. Extremely spicy aroma, with pepper and chili dominating, some malt and a little funk. Dry and spicy, very complex flavour
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (8995) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 11, 2007
Aroma of malt, spice, citrus, and something earthy. Beautiful orange amber color with a vigorous white head that stays and laces. Starts lightly, very lightly sour, with fresh fruit flavors. Not so much citrus as stone fruit and/or melon. Quite a full mouthfeel. Vigorous, but non-acidic carbonation. The finish is more remnants of sour than bitter. A good, dry finish. It’s really very refreshing.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 bierkoning (8956) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - DEC 15, 2004
Golden color. Creamy head, fading away slowly. Aroma has ripe apricots and is somewhat perfumed. Apricot flavor, tackled by some hops and more herbs. Coreander and nutmeg, maybe, can’t say for sure. The fruit and herbs don’t coïncide, but fight eachother. Still a good and tasty beer, but could be much more balanced.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8243) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2004
Hazy gold with a freshly pressed lemon aroma. Lactic acid sourness, earthy and lemony with light malt. Lighter bodied. (Sept. 2004)

Bottle… Murky, dark caramel ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The aroma is of ripe apples and spice. Light to medium-bodied with soft carbonation. Earthy, but tart and fruity. Reminiscent of green apple cider. Tangy, watery finish. Thanks to mgumby10 for popping the top on this one!

Bottled at the Chris_O Beer, Cheese and Curry powwow. A hazy golden coloured beer with a wispy white head. The aroma is funky and peppery typical of the style. The taste is funky with lemony and peppery notes. Funky, interesting and very tasty. Cheers Joe.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerandBlues2 (7418) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - APR 10, 2006
750 mL bottle straight from the generous hands of Ernest and his cellar. This particular saison pours a brilliant, ever so slightly murky golden sunset orange, tinted more towards the yellow side of the spectrum, with a medium-sized frothy off-white head, of which most diminishes into a thin layer of film floating innocently on top of the beer and providing some lazily falling lacing. The fragrant aroma consists of sweet citrus and powerful lemon citrus, enough to nearly mask the yeast (earth, musty) and malt (meal). There is a faint passing of sour green berries, not yet ripe. Initially this brew is sour and has medium acidity and bitterness, tart hoppiness and then the yeast follows through keeping its presence known, all the while the burning sensation left behind by the acidity is fading from recognition. Medium to full bodied, slightly fizzy yet smooth, quite refreshing palate.
