Been a minute! Had this a few times back in the BW days. Yeasty nose, hints of herbs and barnyard. Caramel tones, light spice, hay, and minor funk in the flavor. Fair amount of grass mixed in as well. Fantome, the weird, the strange. Never quite know what you’re drinking, but it’s almost always tasty!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 adnielsen (3762) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle @ Scott’s Summer Saison tasting. Thanks so much Scott! Milky, cloudy orangish brown appearance with a small tan head. Somewhat oxidized, bready, light fusel, somewhat spicy, dark fruity aroma. Orange, dark berry, tangy, somewhat sour, bready, light cardboard flavor. Maybe peaked a little white back but still fun.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 womencantsail (3934) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle from 2002, I believe. A cloudy golden orange color with a big white head. Really an interesting nose. Lots of perfume and melon notes. A hint of cork, unfortunately. A fair amount of citrus and some white grape. Decently sweet on the palate with good fruit notes (mostly citrus and grape, though there is some sweet melon). A touch of bread and yeast without much in the way of cork as there was on the nose.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Westmeister (590) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 26, 2012
Estimated to be a 2005/2006 bottle. Obvious heavy sediment in the bottle and was carefully poured initially. Pours a crystal clear golden orange with super active carbonation, big off white head and great lacing. Aroma was my favorite part - funky, barnyard, slight tartness - simple devine. Taste shows some slight oxidation, slight tart, funky, wet grass, lemon zest. I have been sitting on this a while and the conditions before me were kinda up in the air, but this beer was amazing regardless of how it got there.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 jbeatty (172) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 12, 2012
2002 bottle courtsey of claaark13, 02/12/2012. Pours luminous orange amber, one-finger head fades to a hazy surface, lacing around the glass. Interesting aroma, peppery green herbs (mint, oregano), some barnyard, light malts, slight oxidation, overarching notes of apples, green grapes, almost vinous. Taste follows, with straw malts, green apples, light funk, mint and soft herbal hoppiness, clean finish. Palate is thin, refined, and drinks easy. The bottle had obviously been well cared for and aged beautifully, a pleasure to try this.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Doodler (272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 27, 2011
750 ml - split with an old friend from Austin. Poured a golden amber with a light brown head. Nose of green apples and a nice barnyard funkiness. Flavor was just as funky, with some bready yeast notes . Nice malts and fruit backbone. Wine barrel flavors pop up as it warms. Mildly carbed, Finishes soft, slightly sweet with a lingering spice palate, Yummy yummy stuff .
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 t0rin0 (44) - La Verne, California, USA - AUG 24, 2011
Had this twice, once in June 2010 (quite good, thanks Jason) and once in February 2011 (not as good, thanks Spence). Notes from the June 2010 tasting. Pours brown, hazy, small beige head with little lacing or retention. Aroma is mint, earth, oxidation, pepper, and caramel. Flavor is heavy on the mint and chocolate but also has a strange wine quality.

Pours hazy medium brown color with tan head. Aromas of dark fruits, candi sugar, dank basement. Mildly sweet fruity flavor with some dankness. Earthy hops and some Fantome funkiness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Another delicious Fantome brew.

Bottle... Poured reddish brown with a thin head. This had some oxidization going on for sure. Body thinned out, dry and funky, a little flora and mildly bitter herbal spiciness to it.
