Boutip (3467) - Gatineau, - JAN 30, 2012
Bottle: Poured a clear deep dark golden color ale with a super large white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of light rustic malt notes with some lightly funky yeast ester and some bready notes. Taste is also a mix between some bready malt with some rustic notes some lightly funky ester and a very subtle tart notes at the end. Body was lighter then most Fantome beers but still quite full compared to the competition with some great carbonation. This is a good beer form a brewery that has a tendency to be all over the place dome time though a lot les unique then some of their other offerings.

Sampled at the HF anniversary afterparty courtesy of Lushawn. Pours a murky yeasty brown/gold color. Tastes like light floral fruit and heavy basement and earthy yeast. Very unrefined in a good way if that makes sense.

bottle. notes of spiced melon, dry toasted cracker, some herbal spruce like character. relatively low carbonation for a fantome beer. touch of candied sugar. pretty good, but not as memorable as some other fun fantome reebs.

bottle share at hill farmstead, very citrusy, tons of oranges and lemons. Very musty and "old basement" Thanks for sharing!

75 cl. bottle shared / thx to sebletitje – apparently a fresh bottle – apricot amber (definitely darker than the blond version) with a disappearing head, smell is touch medicinal, apricot, fruity yeast, touch spices & oranges, taste is sweet apricot, lot fruitier than the blond with the spices subdued but still slightly present here especially in the finish, fruity yeast, pineapple, citrus fruit, touch herbs, spices, yeast & slightly bitter in finish, well-carbonated, touch less than the blond, still very good, touch less impressive / complex

75cl bottle, bought at the local butcher shop for the Pietrain Association.

14/IV/2012 - 75cl bottle @ home - BB: not indicated on bottle, but according to sebletitje a freshly brewed batch (2012-366) Thanks to sebletitje for sharing the bottle!

Cloudy orange to amber beer, small off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit fruity, grapefruit, bit soapy, some spices. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus, orange peel, mandarins, little bitter, some herbs, bit sour. Aftertaste: some citrus, little bitter, herbal, no smoke alas. A shame.

Bottle, 04/10/2012. Light hazy amber pour, thin fine white head fades to a few patches on the surface. Aroma has that distinct Fantome character. Caramel malts with orange and lime, hint of candi sugar, honey and yeast, light farmhouse funk. Taste is sweeter with a definite sour/vinegar edge, honey and lime, other citrus. Palate is medium, bright mouthfeel and dry finish. Fun, interesting brew.

bottle-conditioned 750ml. lightly hazed amber body with a fine-bubbled white head. candy sugar and citrus / fruit nose (apricot, grapefruit pith, white raisin) with a distinctly rustic musty yeast character (basement must, concrete mix), though does have noticeable oxidation (wet paper). medium body with solid frothiness and a lingering, mild syrupiness late. after allowing it to open up and warm, the oxidation lingers and it tends to muddle the fruit and minerallic nature of the yeast, so, it’s certainly affected, but I can still see what a beauty this would be were it not oxidized. the farmhouse must, or funk, or whatever you wish to call it, works well with the dried fruit and mild herbal spiciness. damn shame it’s not in better shape, though.

75cl green bottle. Green vintage. Pours hazy amber with a medium white head. Short lived foam. Aroma is straight funk and tartness. Malty sweetness base and vinegary tartness to it. Reminds of some flanders red. Taste is similar: some malty sweetness, tons of tart vinagray and funky notes. Some yeasty spiciness but profile is preatty sour and clean. Good carbonation and medium body. This is probably a perfect link between saison and flanders red, it takes best from both styles. Simply delicious. And easy drinkable too.
