Bottle … Fantômepalooza 2011… Mostly clear golden ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. The bouquet provides uber spice-rackiness – herbal, minty and just a weird combination of spices and herbs. Strange marriage of fragrances. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is bready, bittersweet and spicy. Finishes yeasty and bittersweet, then the bitterness lingers a good while. Not really my thing, but big-time thanks go out to Beerlando for sharing this rarity! I’ve never run into a beer that I’ve regretted trying at least once.

Thanks Travlr! Like many Fantomes, this is hard to put a finger on. Delicious old smelling funk, nectary tropical fruits, and pez candies give way to a vibrantly carbonated body. Delicious!

750mL thanks to Travlr. Pours a slightly hazy deep yellow with a massive, off-white, extremely rocky head. Slight orange tint. Sort of a gusher upon opening. Huge five-finger head with a massive cloud kingdom for retention and lace. Nose is orange PEZ candy straight up. Taste is pretty good...no way close to any of the Sante series which so far have been mind blowing. There is mint, mild lime, decent graininess. peach flavored candy. Nothing mind blowing or superlative, but very refreshing and sugary peach candy heavy. Not a lot of stickiness though. Pretty nice...but if you are a Fantome nerd you MUST try the Sante 14 my god.

Bottle. Odd corkage led to some stress while opening, but we survived. Murky orange color, large white head, great lacing. Aroma of dusty pineapple leaves, moderate funk and vacuum cleaner. Taste is smooth pineapple, grapefruit and barnyard. Another amazing beer from Dany, merci, mon ami.

Tropical fruit notes on the nose with just a hint of smokiness. Pours golden blonde. Very earthy with a strong smokiness and some tropical fruit notes very funky with a lot going on, very interesting.

Pours cloudy yellow in color with a white head. Strong aromas of banana, lemon, and bubblegum. A bit of grass and yeast. Pretty decent, actually. A very strong and strange smoke flavor as well as some burnt plastic.

Pours hazy dark yellow, low white head, decent lacing. Aroma is banana candy, orange, plastic, and wheat. Flavor is smokey (?!), plastic, some citrus, and some banana. Weird and not in a good way.

750 ml bottle. A hazy medium to dark blonde beer, with a huge, frothy, lacing, mostly lasting white head. The aroma is lightly malty (bread), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, grass), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough), with a strong note of lemon candy, and other notes of mint, spicy herbs, grapefruit, ginger, pepper, perfume etc. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately sour, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, dry and very long finish, with moderate to heavy bitterness. I don’t know why, but I do really like it, many people may not. Extremely weird, spicy, hot, complex. Maybe this is a magic bottle, but I have another one left, let’s hope it’s at the same level.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2011 peculiar herbal, twangy mint and basil. bright, zest orange and lemongrass. peaches and cream. lemon orange sourness closely followed by an abrubt toasty, sweet juicy orange fruitsnack sweetness. i’ll be damned if there isn’t some ginger in here. unqiue nose, peculiar flower taste reminds me of mamouche’s weird earthy wild flower taste. neat. though there is a weird toothpaste solvent note that takes away from the experience. weird beer. unique flow of weird oldfruit, touch of vegetal grass. flowers. it’s like eating a fruit salad, where some of the fruit was rotten, the fruits in this salad would be lemon and orange, and toasted pineapple. but you also through a bunch of grass, mint, basel, pepper, and hay for kicks. But then for some reason dropped a cup of nighttrain right in. It’s weird for sure. happy i tried it. but don’t see myself enjoying a whole bottle of the stuff.
