3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 bb (4589) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 13, 2009
Bottle. Somewhat hazy amber beer with an off-white head. Light hay, honey, and malt aroma. Tart, light sour, lemon, and green apple flavor with hay and light malt. Medium bodied. Sourness lingers with a light acetic note, lemon, and hay. Great balance. Very refreshing.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (4570) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 7, 2009
In short: A very wild and rather tart blonde Saison. Complex and mega-refreshing
How: Bottle 750ml. Age unknown (but tasted fresh and lively). Sent to me by ygtbsm94, thanks a lot Brad
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head
In long: The nose is barnyard, flower petals and cheese. Oh man I’m in for a treat!!! Taste of bubbles gum, green apples, white cheese, apricots, mangos, flower petals juice, super nice tartness. Very wild. Full body. Chewy doughy mouthfeel. This bottle really tasted like a cross between a good batch of Fantôme Saison and a good batch of Fantôme Pissenlit. The type of quality batches Fantôme were putting out 3-4 years ago. Either this bottle was old or Fantôme Printemps is the new Fantôme Pissenlit. Given Fantôme less-than-inconsistent releases I’m not sure that my next Printemps bottle will be half as good as this one. One thing for it wont’t be twice as good, because if it is I’ll have to hack the site to enter my rating.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Travlr (4551) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 19, 2009
750 ml bottle at Birreria Paradiso. Cloudy golden color. Aroma of licorice and sweat. Flavor of banana and citrus. No champagne in sight. Mild bitter finish. Second time trying this one, better this time around.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 egajdzis (4550) - Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 27, 2005
Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized, white, fluffy head, that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of barnyard, spicy citrus, light clove, and yeast. Taste of lemon, grapes, and other citrus fruits, very light sweetness, and a long dry finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 michael-pollack (4538) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2009
750ml Bottle: Aroma of light wood, grass, hops, yeast, slight lemon, slight herbs, and slight spices. Poured yellow/gold/tan/blond in color with a very tiny head that lasted 2 seconds. Cloudy. Not sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet. Tastes of yeast, light menthol, light wood, light citrus, and dust.
Light to medium body. Watery texture is really thin. Soft carbonation. Lemon, dust, and yeast, finish. 8%ABV is well hidden, but otherwise quite disappointing.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (4531) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 25, 2010
Sample at the HSC Sour Beer Tasting on 06/19/2010: This brew is a hazy yellow color with a medium fluffy white head that evaporates steadily. Aroma of canned lemonade and yeast. Medium dry body with flavors of lemony citrus, yeast and malt. The finish is lemon tartness with a lightly hopped and yeasty aftertaste. Above average overall.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 sayravai (4526) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 5, 2008
(Bottled) Hazy reddish amber with a smallish, lemonadey and quickly fading head. Very citrus-fruity and beautifully perfumy aroma with lots of spices (orange-peel, coriander, etc.). Lightly tart and heavily fruity, lightly spicy and pleasantly perfumy-hoppy flavor. Medium-bodied, somewhat foamy-carbonated, dryish and very refreshing palate. Like a saison with some lambic added - lovely, balanced and refreshing! The yeast is not bad, but better be left out still. Drink it straight from the fridge!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonas (4506) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - FEB 13, 2007
Bottle. Fruity (apple, pineapple) aroma, light metallic yeast. Cloudy orange yellow, nice golden creamy head. Medium body, fruity base (tropical, clementine, apple), light bready notes, a hint salt. Pleasant.
