COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Light, fruity and champagne-like. Fantôme brews special seasonal beers, never repeating a recipe from year to year. This one is for spring . . .

Musty, barnyard aroma is lightly fruity with honeyish tones and an alluring, if gentle, spiciness. Hazy, tan-gold with decent white head that recedes to partial cover and ring. Woody, caramel flavour has a fair bitterness in the long, dry finish, Plenty of grassy, herbal hop character mingles with the spiciness. Medium body with fair carbonation that is lightly effervescent. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005.

750 ml bottle. Vivid bright orange, dark yeast clouds lurk at the center, slowly swirling...thick white slowly diminishing head...sour, briney herbs sting the nostrils, fresh earthy tones and vanilla follow...very sour at first, somewhat bitter with notes of rusty iron and sour wine...interesting but somewhat difficult to drink..luscious, full body at first with low-to-moderate carbonation becomes rather watery and dry/hard at the finish. Definitely much more drinkable near room temp, and a fascinating effort, but not my fave...I suspect this bottle could be a little off.

750. corked and capped. gotta love fantome. pours a hazy, coppery medium amber. thick creamy white head and dense wooly sheets of lace. big fragrant nose of sweet grass and pencil shavings. creamy medium body with firm bold carb. sweet delicious creamy grass, wildflowers, pencil shavings, and some early, pretty touches of funk. probably be even more delectable when it dries out. nice saison as usual.

Bottled capped and corked with markings of 086/477044. The brew poured a large sized head of frothy medium sized white colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a good lacing. the body was a uncarbonated hazy dark yellow color. The aroma contained notes of fruity bananas apricots and malt. The mouth feel was tingly and sharp with a mild lingering fruity aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt mild delicate hops banana apricot dough and other flowery notes.

#2 [Blind tasting session @ Papsoe 30-11-2007] Average white fizzy head that mostly diminished. Cloudy to muddy golden color. Fair lacework. First impression was somewhat moldy with notes of caramel, fruit, spicy, and citrus. Don’t think the sour notes were intended. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and hint of dry texture. Light sweet and acidic. Light spicy and acidic like finish.

Gold color with a quickly falling medium head. Aroma of wheat, banana, a light breadiness and some floral hints. Strong, dry wheat flavor. Some muddled floral notes. Light yeast character. A very light, tart lemon towards the finish. Ends dry.

Clear orange amber with a fleeting head. Mild cheesy funk aroma with dry cooking spices ( please don’t ask ). Full, frothy mouthfeel. Nice grainy bready malt flavors with salt, cloves, and other spices. The mystery that is Fantome continues....

75cl bottle. Another overrated Fantome. I really wonder why everybody rate this stuff so enormously high. Just taste it and don’t let the high ratings impress you. Just be honest... And to be honest, I think this one is not that worse, I had worse of this brewery. I think they just have fun adding a lot of ingredients forget it all when they start with the next batch. Well at least it works for the major part of Ratebeer. :-P That might be an art as well. Some bonuspoints for that.
Aroma has yeast, citrus and some malts. Orange milky coloured with loads of yeast flunks. Almost no lace. Taste is sweet with some sourness and a hint of lactics. Yeast and some fruitiness. Most likely loads of calories.
