Light, fruity and champagne-like. Fantôme brews special seasonal beers, never repeating a recipe from year to year. This one is for spring . . .

Bottle. A lightly honey sweet malt aroma. Not much pepper or phenols. Hazy medium yellow color. Taste is lightly citrus with a moderate bitterness. Light alcohol warming. Overall ok but not great. A little too much maltiness

(Fantôme Printemps) Bottle 750 ml at home, capped and corked, served into a tulip, ABV 8% Quite hazy body, bright orange in colour, with a small but thick and creamy head on top, with good retention too. Nice aroma, lots of citrus, lemon leaves, light funk character, lemon peel. Very nice taste too, again plenty of lemon leaves, flowers, lemon peels, grass, herbs. Medium thin body, good carbonation, very dry palate. Great saison, refreshing, thirst-quenching and highly drinkable.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a hazy orange body with a medium white head. Nose is citric peel, lime, oranges, straw, pale malts, hay and hints of herbs and vanilla. Taste is strong citric peel notes, bitter mineral tones, grains, hay and hints of pale malts, bitter herbs and clementines. Medium body and carbonation. Fresh, but rather citric-bitter and somehow weird. Not quite my favorite, I have to say.

Bottle. Belgiuminabox.com. Lightly hazy, pale gold. Film of lasting, white head. Wow. Medicinal. Clove. Sticking plaster. Star Anise. A lot of Fantome in there, beyond the bonkers. Taste is fairly sweet. Bready dry. Lots of body. Easy drinking, soft, airy palate. Finishes with more of the clove thing. Bitter close, that lasts well. It’s a Fantome. It’s a bit bonkers. Very nice. Gets more bitter as it goes along.

750ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. January 2015.
BBD: have to check, but it was quite fresh.
In short: "balsamic" saison.
Pours very hazy deep gold-orange with frothy off white head. Short head retention, good lacing. Balsamic nose, some cardamom, coriander one. Medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste is litle sour, herbal, again the balsamic flavours. A bit palate saturating and dry.
