illkarate (89), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 10, 2008 Wow - the pour is really murky - yellowish orange. Minimal head, but the carbonation is lively. LOTS of sediment. Flavors of orange, lemon, apricot, hints of melon, coriander and nutmeg. Really complex, I don’t know how this could be 8%. It’s totally hidden. Definitely one of the best Saison’s I’ve ever had. Bravo! chrisafari (100), Orange, California, USA Aug 9, 2008 Pours deep opaque/cloudy orange with no real head. I expected this to have a much more full and robust head like other Saison’s i’ve had. Aroma is citrus, herbal and funky with a hint of yeast. Flavor is salty, herbal and sour. Tastes more like a sour ale/lambac than a Saison. Very similar to Isabelle Proximus from Lost Abbey, but less sour. I think this bottle might have been bad, I couldn’t finish it. I was expecting something else. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Aug 4, 2008 Easily the best beer of the weekend. Pours hazy yellow with a big, rocky white head. Thick lacing. Funky sweet aroma with candied fruits. A wonderful taste for a saison. Lots of sweet oranges, strawberries, and plums. Sour yeast balances out the sweet and lets out the pepper and spice. Loved this beer. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Aug 2, 2008 Hazy, like someone punched me in the stomach and I have to pee.
Oh, that smells fantastic.
Aroma is sourness, a little bit of maltiness, a lot of lactic sourness and some strange weird lightness of aroma.
Taste is sour, funky strange bubble gum, and fruity. Definitely a saison with the yeastiness and bubblegum and sourness.
Finishes sour and a little bit salty.
Yum!
Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Aug 2, 2008 Bottle at Delirium, Brussels, Belgium, 26-07-08 Hazy gold pouring beer with white head. Rusic notes on the aroma a sour edge some potato peelings in mouth along with some caperberries at times. Surprisingly dry and also with a touch of sweetness, nice beer indeed. BoBoChamp (1334), Gent, Belgium Jul 28, 2008 75cl, exclusive brewery, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, cloudy, small head, good brew m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 This beer pours with a large head that is fizzy in appearance. The head color is white with excellent lacing. The head longevity is mostly lasting and the body of the beer has a murky, cloudy appearance. The body hue is a medium yellow color.
The initial flavor is sweet and the finish is lightly yeasty and bitterey.
The body is light to medium according to the palate and the texture is dry. The carbonation is lively and the finish feel is slightly metallic. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pours with a thick white head covering a hazy yellow body shimmering with small particles. Really strong lacing. Aroma is amazingly fruity with strong notes of strawberry (a first in a beer for me), madirin oranges and black pepper. Lightly fruity, and agains trawberry taste that ends yeast and peppery. Lively bubbles.
