COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Pours deep yellow. In the nose massive fruits banana, peach lychee, disappeared as the beer adapted to the room temperature. In the mouth round and full body yet countered with nice acidity.

Consumed on New Year’s Day - 01.01.2010 A: Pours a hazy, pale apricot with a nice bone white head and plenty of sticky lacing. S: Some initial horse blanket and funk, with a few citrus notes in the background. There’s also a little bit of an apple cider smell. Highly aromatic and quite inviting. T: A bit more muted than the nose, but all of those flavors come back. The brett is clearly present along with some citrus and cider notes. A bit of lemon and some white peach. Slightly sweet as well. M: Quite dry, yet keeps me salivating. Nice and acidic, but balanced by a bit of sweetness and the perfect level of sourness. D: Highly drinkable. Quite complex and always inviting. Definitely one of the best saisons that I’ve come across. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-01-2010

Pours murky gold with some particulates moving about and a frothy but quickly fading pale head. Nose is very similar to a framboise lambic. Lots of bright citrus flavors like grapefruit and lemon. Sour, but not overly so, and the heat is felt rather than tasted. Not what I tend to think a saison is like, but that didnt stop me from thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks bro!

Bottle shared side by side with Saison Du Pont at the BA gathering. This one won hands down and the only thing the Du Pont had it on was appearance. Aroma of fresh juicy fruit mainly peach and apricot. The flavor was similar but no quite as juicy fruity as the aroma, tropical fruits dominate with peach and apricot ruling along with some slight bready notes.Thinner bodied which seems about right for this style with average to strong carbonation. Really nice and a total eye opener when drank side by side with the Du Pont.

A just-about perfect saison! Creamy with just the right amount of fizz - no problem finishing the whole bottle - DO OVER!

Bottle (75 cl) from Etre Gourmet. Hazy golden with small white head. Tropical fruits dominate the aroma, with notes of honey and apples. Wonderful mild acidity with a soft bitterness. Delicious.

Shared Bottle courtesy of Tim and Rachel. Pours a cloudy yellow, moderate head. Taste is smooth and wet, a little sweet and a little citrus hint. This is absolutely delicious.
