COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

750ml bottle from Winooski thanks to Ruth and Jeff
Appearance : Hazy yellow with a big fluffy head.
Aroma : Dusty and chalky. Some yeasty esters; banana. Pretty intense banana profile. More like this banana cough syrup or something. Some spices. A bit fruity and a bit tart. Not that great to me.
Taste : Quite fruity, some passion fruits, a bit of pinneaple. Some bananas.
Overall : Ok this is some weird stuff. Nose is interesting but I can’t say I liked it that much. Taste was good but can’t say it was mind blowing either. The bad thing with Fantôme is that you never know if this was a good bottle of not (especially when it’s your first).

Tasted from 750mL bottle at Lush Roscoe. Pours cloudy yellow orange with a thick white head that leaves massive lace. The nose is very pretty with passion fruit, light hay, and light malt. Flavors are some tart lemon with tropical fruits, light hops, with some hay and bread. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long tropical and bitter finish.

Bottle pour to tulip glass. Saw the green bottle and immediately thought of skunkiness, got the cork out and got a whiff of skunk, after that not bad. Cloudy medium dark yellow with white persistent head. Aroma light fruits, citrus and a little sweat socks, sounds kinda bad but wasn’t at all. Palate fizzy. Finish fairly long and fruity. Taste difficult to describe - light fruits, citrus, mustiness. Sourness and tartness seem to come and go. Alcohol not apparent at all. I drank some after exercising and it was very refreshing.

Pours cloudy yellow with a big white head that disappates quickly. Nose of sweet orange/pineapple and a little soapy. Lively on the palate, full round sweet fruit with a little sour on the end. Hops are barely there.

Bottle, bought PRE-ZBF 2010 shop. Poured into BeerMerchants goblet glass. Exceptionally fizzy cloudy and golden appearance. A nice thinning head. Lots of bubbles. Lots of interaction happening. Bitter orange zest; fruits, critus notes and a good whack of tart and sourness. Barnyardy feel. A great beer and good for the summer. Please ignore the appearance before taste. It’s very very drinkable. Long dry finish. Great stuff. Cheers.

Pours a golden orange haze. Has a sweet/sour smell. Lovely dry sour grapefruit taste. Great finish to this beer. This is an amazing saison!!!

Pours a nice golden yellow with some light fluffy foamy head. Just a slight bit of lacing left on the glass. Smell is a nice blend of sweet & sour notes with a flavor profile that matches up quite well with the addition of some fruity notes. A good amount of bubbly carbonation creates a lively mouthfeel with the bubbles lingering on the finish. A good beer and definitely one I will be trying again - TASTY.

Golden pour with a full fluffy white head. Aroma is tons of yeasty, fruity esters, some light sourness, and dried fruit. Flavor is smacking dried fruit and some musty yeast. citrus fruitiness as well. Finish is full of candi sugar and a bit of booziness. Nice
