4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hobbersr (690) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - APR 9, 2010
Purchased at a beer store outside of the main square in Brussels. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma is really, really funky. The aroma reminds me of a good lambic and saison. Lemon, vinegar, oats, phenol, orange, and spice on the nose. The flavor is again, quite tart. Tangerine, orange, bubblegum, oats, grape skin, apple, apricot, candi sugar flavors. Spritzy mouth feel. Fantastic beer!

Darker golden color, slighty hazy, 1 finger head, tiny carbonation bubbles. Light cotton candy and bubblegum up front, musty/dirty/horsey funk, faint pepper. Flavor much the same, with a slight tangy/wheat/sourness. Very delicate for 8%. Not quite as dry as expected, other than that, stellar.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Cole (889) - , Alberta, CANADA - APR 8, 2010
pours hazy yellow. Almost no head. That is one funky smelling beer. Aroma of bubble gum and brett. Spur and funky almost like a gum drop. Flvour is great sour funky and that bubble gum flavour. This saison kicks ass! One of the best I have ever had I love fantome. All I can say is that this is great it is almost a guze without the same degree of sourness. Thanks Riley.

A fruity, mildly sour, delicious saison. I was first struck by the sweetly tart vinous flavor of this beer. It seems much fruitier than other saisons that I’ve tried. There are some background saison characteristics with a very mild farmhouse flavor. Ripe grapefruit is also a strong flavor, but I have no idea what it’s from. There are nice dry oak notes. The color of the beer is very nice, but there is next to no head or lacing. The feel is good for the flavor but a tad strange. There’s a good deal of spicing in the beer, some cinnamon and cardamom. The more sediment-ridden second glass that I had verges on a very dry and wonderful orange soda. Great apple flavor; it’s close to apple cider in some ways. This is a very interesting beer, and I look forward to trying more from Fantôme in the future.

Pours amber with a white head. Smells of tarte citrus, funky, some dry malt. Tastes citrussy and grassy with some dry malty hints and a light peppery finish.

Pours hazy orange with nice thick white head. Aroma is complex and light, citrus fruit including lemon, orange, leading into some cheese and vanilla. Taste up front is complex with citrus, lemon, and vanilla leading into cheese and horse blanket with a sour component mixed in nicely with a sweet finish. Different than any other saison, a definitely mix between that and lambic, great but pricy.

Bottle. Pours orange golden coloured with a big lasting and lacing foamy egg white head. Aromas of orange fruit, grain, cereal, spices, hops and citrus fruit. Fruity and malty flavour with notes of oranges, honey, grassy hops and yeast. Very easy drinkable.. Great beer.

Pours light golden color with white head. Fruity aroma with some citrus. Citrus flavor, mostly oranges with a little lemon. The Fantome house flavor is there with some mustiness. Light and refrshing. Another very nice brew from one of my favorite breweries.
