Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

´t Brugs Beertje, Brugge. He seems champagne, dense and “perpetual” cream. When placed in the cup, it gives a effect that seems that it has suspension, but is alone effect… Soft and fruity without being sour..........................Parece champagne, creme denso e "eterno". Quando colocada no copo, dá um efeito que parece que há suspensão, mas é só efeito... Suave, frisante e frutada sem ser azeda.

On tap at the Hotton beer festival. Cloudy orangey amber with a good white head. Fruity and spiced aroma. Nice fruity flavours, spices (which?) are there, but quite balanced. Refreshing and complex.

Bottle from belgianbeershop.com. Pours a muddy yellow with no apparent head (poured it slowly, so that may be the cause). Aroma is stunningly fruity, oranges, pineapple, apples, some spices and a little yeast. Low carbonation, giving it a soft, flat feel. Flavour begins sweet, with some oranges based fruityness. There are a little definite spicyness in the aftertaste as well as a little more dryness and tartness. I have never had anything that hides 8 % this well. It feels like a slightly carbonated fruit juice.

Sampled on tap at the Belmont Station while attending the American Breweriana Association Annual Meeting (ABA) in Portland, Oregon. Pours a hazy golden yellow brew with a fizzy thick white head with good retention. Aroma of sour apples, Begian yeast, pears and some earthy herbs. Taste is sour fruity with plenty of carbonation and yeast. Finish is dry, slightly tart with some spiced pear aftertaste.

750ml bottle. Tulip glass. Pale cloudy yellow with a big head. Aroma was typically of Belgians, yeast and spices. Flavor was dry and spicy and perhaps a bit peppery.

Unclear gold with off white head. Aroma is complex - sour apple, manuer, vinegar. Sweet & sour fruity & fresh. After a few sips.... very nice!

Bottle. Orange color with white head. Very faint aroma of citrus. Very sweet tasting. Almost no bitterness. A good Saison but more than a bottle would have been too much to stomach.
