Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Dec 19, 2006 Nice bright white head of fine bubbles. Excellent carbonation keep a nice head on this one. Yeasty, spicy and with a big shot of lemon. Lots of bitter citrus. Color is a clean golden orange. Dry mouthfeel. Slight tartness along with plenty of spices and yeast. More lemon but not quite as prominent. Lingering lemon and slight bitterness. Warming from the alcohol.. Relatively light bodied but yet fullfilling and satisfying. An excellent saison and one that all other should be judged against. TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 18, 2006 spicy yeast, saltiness, fruit in the aroma. Pours a cloudy golden yellow, thin head. Sour up front, smooth dry finish. Refined. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 18, 2006 Ligh head. Proper aroma for style. Light flavour and light body. Sour funky finish. Rockin! jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Nov 25, 2006 Pours slightly cloudy orange/yellow with a medium white head. Light spiciness, flowers, berries/fruitiness, citrus and a hint of wood in the nose. Flavor has notes of lemon zest, light honey, oranges, pepper, flowers and herbal noble hops. Didn’t pick up any brett/barnyard character. Lightly acidic, lightly tart/sour and pleasantly sweet. Alcohol content very well-hidden. Medium bodied with a very smooth texture and effervescent, fine-beaded carbonation. Great all around. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Nov 24, 2006 750. Hazy golden with a medium off white head, medium carbonation. Otje definitely called it with strong peaches in the aroma, as well as citrus, lemon, earth, and funk. Taste is tart lemon, barnyard funk/brett, light wet basement, peppery, citrus. The finish is lightly sour. very impressive. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Nov 24, 2006 Mmmmm what an aroma fills the air upon opening, lots of soft peaches and some citrus, lemony and a whif of funk. Very complex taste of fruits, peaches, citrus and a lot of brett, good hoppy tartness and some sourness. Just great!!! Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Nov 23, 2006 750ml bottle. WOW, now this is definately a nice change from what I have been drinking lately. I have to say, its different than i was expecting. I was expecting a more saison dupont type pours lightly hazy yellow with a small white head. Lemon, citrus, light funk aroma with lots of sweetness. not the nose i was expecting. lots of sweet tart notes as well. flavors are sour, lots of sweet shock tart flavor with some nice yeast twang. the brett comes out more in the flavor than the nose. very complex i must add. palate is not as carbonated as many fantome beers. comes across very round with moderate carbonateion. alcohol is lightly detected on the finish but masked by the tartness. cool brew!
