Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Bottle. Pours cloudy amber color with a medium rocky white head. Arom of floral hops, citrus, wood, lemon. Flavor is lemony, honey, citrus, nice and tart. Palate is fairly light, acidic, with medium carbonation. Rockin!

Pours slightly cloudy orange/yellow with a medium white head. Light spiciness, flowers, berries/fruitiness, citrus and a hint of wood in the nose. Flavor has notes of lemon zest, light honey, oranges, pepper, flowers and herbal noble hops. Didn’t pick up any brett/barnyard character. Lightly acidic, lightly tart/sour and pleasantly sweet. Alcohol content very well-hidden. Medium bodied with a very smooth texture and effervescent, fine-beaded carbonation. Great all around.

750. Hazy golden with a medium off white head, medium carbonation. Otje definitely called it with strong peaches in the aroma, as well as citrus, lemon, earth, and funk. Taste is tart lemon, barnyard funk/brett, light wet basement, peppery, citrus. The finish is lightly sour. very impressive.

Mmmmm what an aroma fills the air upon opening, lots of soft peaches and some citrus, lemony and a whif of funk. Very complex taste of fruits, peaches, citrus and a lot of brett, good hoppy tartness and some sourness. Just great!!!

750ml bottle. WOW, now this is definately a nice change from what I have been drinking lately. I have to say, its different than i was expecting. I was expecting a more saison dupont type pours lightly hazy yellow with a small white head. Lemon, citrus, light funk aroma with lots of sweetness. not the nose i was expecting. lots of sweet tart notes as well. flavors are sour, lots of sweet shock tart flavor with some nice yeast twang. the brett comes out more in the flavor than the nose. very complex i must add. palate is not as carbonated as many fantome beers. comes across very round with moderate carbonateion. alcohol is lightly detected on the finish but masked by the tartness. cool brew!

Bottle from trappist glass. Poured hazy orange color with a minimal frothy white head that diminished quickly with fair lacing. Moderate yeasty sour tart fruit aroma. Light to medium body. Medium sour citrus flavor with a medium sour spicy finish of moderate duration.

Bottle. Golden pour with an off white head. Aroma was REALLY funky, there was some honey in there but for the most part it was cobwebs and cheese. There had to be some sort of infection to this bottle, so it wil be one I’ll have to come back to. Flavor was funky, brett some light malt and honey. Sour light body with a spicy finish.
