Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Tasted with Indra and Heemer77. Hazy gold with a perpetual white head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is yeasty, vanilla, white pepper, slight funkiness, tropical fruit. Taste is yeasty, white pepper, lemon, noble hops?, and vanilla. Finish is lemony.

Hazy gold and a small, creamy, white head. Nose of floral citrus, earthy funk, grainy malt, light perfume, crisp hops. Flavor adds some sour notes and a bit of yeast. Nice contrast of flavors. Medium, balanced palate. Great brew.

Alcohol presence was very strong in this beer, especially in the nose. Also in the aroma is citrus, very pungent fruity esters, and a strong muskiness. Pours with a big white head that fades down pretty quick and leaves little lacing. Taste is strong and assertive in its unripe fruit, subtle spicing, lemon rind, and a sour bitterness. The thing most holding this beer back is the strong alcohol presence (vodka like, very pure).

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a huge wihte head. I was scared off the aroma at first when i poped the cork and skunk hit me right away. Somehow it disappeared and left a wonderful. Very musty, earthy but fruity and a nice pepperyness. Flavor is very nice with some citrus and pepper with tons of spice. This is probably the spiciest saison i have ever had. Real good and very tasty.

Fruity sweet aroma perfumes from an orange pour with medium white laced head. Palate is a bit sticky and cloying. Flavor has some sour to it (mostly tart apple) but is otherwise an uncomplex sweet that lasts throughout. Does not contain any of the peppery dryness I get from Saison Dupont or other saisons. Lively carbonation and nice character, just not my preferred qualities in a saison. Will try again to see if I missed something.

750 bottle with cork and cap. Gave a hearty pop when the cork was pulled. Poured with high carbonation but almost no head. No lace. Fruit and spice notes in the taste were subdued in the aroma. Aroma was more of the sour lambic quality, with almost no lambic taste in the beer. Odd. Palette was active, due to high carbonation, and quite complex for such a light colored beer. Slight fruity after taste of strawberries and lemongrass.

Pours out an almost orange color with a huge head. Once it settles, the beer smells of peaches and other fruity characteristics. Once you taste it, it has a sweet peach like taste followed immediately by a bitter hoppy finish. Very nice, my first from this brewery, and judging by this one, it wont be my last. Very nice.

Pours out a cloudy golden color with a huge white head. Aroma is sour with hints of peach. Flavor is very refreshing with a nice dry hoppy finish. This is something that would go great on a nice hot day. Great brew.
