Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

75 cl bottle. Yeast at the bottom. Golden cloudy colour with a weak fizzy head. Lovely aroma of fruit, yeast sourness and ends in are very pleasant way. Also smooth and pleasant flavour of sweetness, yeasty and little sour, very nice and well made endeed.

Probably a well-aged bottle. Pours orangecoloured with persisting head. Sweet fruity aroma with lots of peaches. Very nice wellbalanced sweet taste, tastes fresh and alive. Soft carbonation, good mouthfeel. Highly recommended.

Pours bright gold into a tulip. Earth and dough notes. Sour/sweet orange peel in the barnyard. Lively (not bubbly) and slick. Dry, bitter yeast finish that was medium in length.

I wonder if I got a bad bottle. A mild aroma and taste of herbs, a slight lemony sourness. Very little maltiness--like a pilsner even. Nothing was going on in this beer ,and I was bored with such a huge bottle (that cost $10).

750 mL bottle from Ernest. This gem displays a slightly murky straw yellow with a small fizzy white head and some spotty lacing. Aroma is yeast (farm, earth, dough) and sour lemon, golden malt (straw, hay, meal) and trace fruits (pear, green apple, grape). Initially tart and medium acidity, slight sweetness peeks through, yeast and malt dominate the finish. Medium to light bodied, easy drinking with a smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle. Amber beer with a whitish head. Yeasty, orange/lemon aroma with spice and honey. Orange honey spice flavor with good malt backing. Light and sublle but very well balanced. Great beer. Lighter carbonation than expected.

750mL bottle. A very hazy, dull honey/gold pour with a thick, fizzy off-white head on top. A very appetizing aroma of sour lemons, oranges, strawberries, wheat, yogurt, lots of that typical barnyard funk and something similar to Swedish Fish or Sour Patch Kids candy. Carbonation is pretty high, yet doesn’t really detract from this flavor-packed brew. Lots of sweet/sour fruits and tanginess upfront. Lemons and strawberries abound. Very wheaty and tart. Just the teensiest hint of alcohol. Finishes with a slightly bitter tanginess that dries the mouth out a little. Fantome can just do no wrong in my book.

after about a year of hanging on to this,i decided to drink it.when i did i dumped it into a snifter and was shown a murky orange body with a nice thick white head.as the head sat it left a nice lacing on the glass.i held the glass to my nose and caught a mix of hose blanket, sour fruit, and a bit of hops.the flavor was much in the same.the more "barnyard" brews i drink the more that i like them.this is taking me more tward that "funky’barnyard" style.
