Clear, light amber with a large white head, mostly fading. The nose is hay, dough, spice, lactic acid, cheese and cotton candy. The flavor is lightly tart, lightly sweet with cotton candy, light lemon, orange, light herbs and hops. Medium body is very soft with moderate carbonation.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 nahthan (129) - Oakland, California, USA - NOV 17, 2007
Bottle. Slightly cloudy in the glass, in all the best (unfiltered) ways. Nice dense head, pours with a lot of carbonation, as would be expected. Surprising how much sweet, maltiness comes through, equally surprising how well this combines with the esters from the yeast. Slight sour flavor and aroma, but definitnely nothing very pronounced. Very tasty. Slightly oxidized - a little bit of chalkiness in the finish, but that’s probably just because this thing sat on a container ship the last 6 months of its existence. Tasty.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with an initial enormous head that dies down pretty rapidly. Aroma of fruit and some malt. Flavor of sour apple with a hint of spiciness. Not as dry spicy as some saisons, but more of a subtle spiciness to complement the fruit and tartness. Excellent Beer! Hey I believe that this is #100 of my Rate Beer reviews!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 probstk (1911) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2007
0,75l bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Golden with a light white head, flecky (I made that word up and I like it).
Aroma: Pleasantly fruity – I get some tree fruits, stone fruits, berries and some light tropical fruits; sugary/honey sweetness, light funk, some sharp organic acids hiding in the background; yeast and some spiciness.
Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence.
Flav.: Much more organic acid than the nose, the fruits have retreated, touches of honey; light amounts of funk and rubber; an intriguing blend of sweet, sour and mild bitterness, alcohol is nowhere to be found.
I don’t have a good grasp on this style, but I will certainly enjoy this example of it.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Scauca (490) - Lovere, ITALY - OCT 21, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2007 Beautiful huge disappearing head. Bright sunset colour. The aroma of this beer is awesome to me, with that strawberry perfectly mingling with slightly woody bretta’s, citric and melon. Flavor is complex, fruity, a bit peppery and woody, obviously sour, but still hi-drinkable for the lightness in body that perfectly hides 8% abv. The thirst-quencher. Love it.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeinEscazú (1120) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - OCT 16, 2007
This is a happy beer. Taste is happy. But then I see bottle with no date of any kind. When is it brewed? I don’t know. How long is it good? I don’t know. Then I take another sip, get happy again. It is gold in color, bright at first and then cloudy (later) as we get to the bottom of the bottle. Lovely, pillowy, white head is a fleeting thing. I’m amazed by a sweet, fruity nose of watermelon, pear, honey, spices, and a little funk. Taste is lightly sweet, with notes of pear, apple, an herbal touch, and maybe a little pepper. No tartness in this particular bottle. Only slight bitterness and maybe a little wetter than I’d like. Light to medium body. Refreshing and well balanced for its alcohol content. And a heavenly match for this bacon-and-apple quiche. Happy.
