Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2005 Out of a bottle at rich’s, color resembled a mixed drink using orange juice. Damp basement smell, yeasty. Fruity draw yet crisp. Different for me as my first of this type overall very tasty, distinct. richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2005 musty, nutty aroma, a little bit of flowery hop aroma. color is reminiscent of a whiskey sour, cloudy orange, tons of sediment, and a huge creamy white head. flavor has a very nice crisp spicyness, but alot of yeastiness, more than most other saisons. finish is nice and clean, spices dominate and linger. a little different, but still very nice. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland May 10, 2005 Bottled 0,75l
Hazy orange color, floating yeast, beautiful beige creamy head. Aroma has flower, lemon, leather, cardboard and horse blanket. Medium-bodied. Citrusy, hoppy, hints of cardboard. Some spices like coriander. Hoppy aftertaste. Very refreshing. A bit like drinking Orval though this is a saison. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2005 Bottle at Monk’s. Sorry, but the beer was "corked." Oxidized, corky, spoiled beer. After two sips, had to tell the barmaid to take it away. Will try again another time. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Apr 21, 2005 Very good tart acidity with a spicy pepper and fruits nose. Wild honey and cloves with rosemary and lemon cookies. Some orange zest and pralines initially giving way to a nice acidic lemon peel charcters with a caramel and roasr balance. Great appetizing finish. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 18, 2005 Hazy, yellow-orange. Creamy, frothy 1/2" thick head. Aroma is bready, like sweet cakes, with some lemony and spicy accents. Flavor is smooth, sour, citric and spicy: lemons, honey, cloves, coriander, yeast and most predominantly pepper. Fruity orange and lemon esters. Chewy malts, but could use some residual sugar to keep it better balanced. Loses some carbonation near the end. Peppery finish with a clove edge. Thins out, leaving a slight sour statement for the aftertaste. Had this one with Leedamer cheese, and that made this tasting that much more enjoyable. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Apr 11, 2005 Bottle. Light amber in color. Decent white head. Lightly funky in aroma. Lighter bodied. Slightly sour and drying. To me not as adventuresome as other Fantomes I have tried. MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Apr 10, 2005 Acidic aroma like lambic, only a little less noticeable. Cloudy golden colour, small head. Flavour is sweet with nice acidity and mild finish. Very refreshing.
