Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Jan 10, 2005 Opaque orange. Thin head collects around the edges. Fresh, yeasty nose has a hint of barn. Lively, crispish mouthfeel creams up the closer to the finish it gets. Very fruity throughout (orange, lemon, pineapple, pear, granny smith apples). Bready and doughy malts, intertwined by yeast notes that surface here and there, especially in the burps. Spices were mild, but they were omnipresent. Refreshing and hearty at the same time. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA Jan 8, 2005 Cloudy golden color with a white head that would not go away. Fruity and fairly spicy aroma, very light funkiness. Lots of odd fruits like kiwi, banana and pineapple. Flavor was nice, fruity and a little spicy with some duller bitterness towards the end. Medium bodied, creamy, yet refreshing. I did enjoy this. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Dec 13, 2004 I was a bit lit when I had this. Had been drinking at the Great Lakes Brewery and when we left we noticed a new wine tasting bar (new to me anyhow). At any rate, turns out they serve some nice beers there too (and the bar tender gave me a bottle of Hitachino Nest New Year Celebration Ale to take with me!) Anyhow, on with the rating. Hazy and lite gold. Very lite and enjoyable aroma. Flowery, lite lemon, strawberry spice and grain. Taste was very very lite and mild (as was the mouth feel). Was refreshing with great summer style beer and spice, fruit and mineral tastes. I think this would be great with any heavy meal! Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Dec 11, 2004 Pours with a thin head. Cloudy off-orange color. Aroma is earthy, yeasty, rich with bananna esters, and just a little bit dry. Body is malty and very, very smooth. Flavors of yeast, hops, and subtle dry spices with earthiness in a great finish. Well done. donvitozou (141), memphis, Tennessee, USA Dec 4, 2004 interesting beer. it began with some champagne like qualities, crisp and bubbly. the flavor grows as it warms, the beer begins with a bitterness that covers the fruit flavors which develop later Ungstrup (14723), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 4, 2004 As a lot of Fantome beers this one really wanted to get out of the bottle, so the cork blew off. An unclear yellow beer with particles of yeast floating around and with a huge white head with small spot of spices. The aroma is sweet with notes of spices especially cinnamon, but also with fruity notes of lemon. The flavor is sweet with a slight acidic lemony background and notes of spices, citrus, and hops giving it a slightly bitter end, where the alcohol also makes its presence known by leaving You with a warmth in the mouth, but the alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is very smooth. MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Dec 2, 2004 This poured with a serious amount of head, filling a solid third of the glass. The color is a hazzy golden with a tint of orange. From about a foot away it smells grassy and slightly sweet. Closer inspection shows its much more bitter citrus and a bit of wheat as well. The flavor is nicely bitter at first, then it shifts over to a more fruity taste, lemon, orange, pineapple, all nicely blended. Leaves the mouth with a sweeter malty taste, and not a presence of alcohol in it. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Nov 29, 2004 Updated: Jul 12, 2005Having worked through both a bottle cap and a cork to get to the ale, It poured a hazy yellow/gold with a thin fizzy head that dissipated to a narrow halo around the glass. The aroma was of sour fruits, a bit of citric, pineapple, apricot, and the like. The sourness of the drink reminded me of a gueuze, but not quite so harsh. It’s quite fruity, again with the pineapple and lime and grapefruit, and also contained some spiciness. This ends with a lindering tart aftertaste. Good drink.
