burcusabrews (106), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Sep 15, 2004 light amber with weak head. Aroma of white chocolate and apricots. Strange mix of milk and white chocolate some strawberry yogurt with a sour finish boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Sep 13, 2004 750ml bottle: Sampled at the CTRiver Brewers Festival. This one poured a dark straw/golden color. There was a huge white head to it tht takes awhile to die down. The first thing that hits you from the aroma is peaches. Also a bit of wheat ot the nose. This beer tastes fantastic. The tastte is dry, spicy, wheaty, and those peaches are there again, but the don’t dominate nor are they sweet. A lovely beer! chriso (4667), London, Greater London, England Sep 11, 2004 Cloudy yellow colour. Lemon and apples with noticeable wheat character and a slightly sour edge. I also thought I detected some gueuze-like accents in the aroma. Interesting. Bottled at GBBF 2004.
Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2004 Very fruity, estery aroma. Belgian yeast, light citrus, bubblegum, barnyard. Light astringency. Hazy butterscotch amber, visible carbonation, with pillowy white lacing head. Medium bodied with heavy carbonation, but not overbearing. Starts with bit of bitter that’s immediately cancelled by fruity estery flavors, some citrus, some bubblegum. Light acidity, floral hops, good malt. Finish is more bitter, bit chalky, with some carbonic burn. After is neutral fruits, chalky, with medium bubblegum bitterness. Firefaery (19), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 31, 2004 I had this on tap for the first time at Max’s on Broadway. First impression was, "This tastes like pineapple-orange-banana juice! Pretty damn tasty." The head was tasty as well. Bright blonde golden color. Nice fruity aroma. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Aug 24, 2004 Wow!! I love saisons, but this beat my expecttions. Poured a golden yellpw with a fluffy white head. Aroma of fruit and yeast funkiness that is huge; barnyard is a good descriptor. Flavor is tart and refreshing, with light fruitiness that I can’t quite pin down, but I loved it.
Quetzalcoatl (153), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 15, 2004 On tap at Max’s. This was a hazy yellow, with a big rocky head. The flavor is laden with fruits, tastes almost like pineapple. Also yeasty and a bit sour. OK, but this being my first Fantome I think I had my expectations too high. maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Aug 7, 2004 Bottled - GBBF 2004. My last beer of the festival and an expensive treat. A hazy yellow/gold colour with a big aroma of vanilla, spices and cream. The taste is nicely spicy with wheat pears lemon and smokiness all present. A tasty complex beer.
