Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

750 ml bottle. Golden with a white head, cloudy with floaties. Aroma of funk, yeast, cheese, and stale hops, or are the stale hops and cheese the same? Flavor of thick malt and sharp hops. Orange peel. A touch of sweetness and funk. Decent and fun cold weather sipping brew.

Ppured very hazy yellow. I got the last pour of the bottle. Aroma was citrusy, yeasty, and oh so barnyardy. Flavor was citrusy, sour, light spice, and yeasty. The finish is medium length tart and slightly sour. Light to medium body.

What an interesting aroma to this one...take anything you can imagine in a field (including some of the unpleasant items) and it was in the air after opening this. A spring morning had sprung forth into my glass. The pour is hazy, with an incandescent light appearance. Flavor wise, there is some sour strawberry, some kiwi and some spices (anise, cloves, pepper). The finish is dry, and a tad acidic, but the remnant on the tongue is a pleasure.

hazy golden hue, replete with floating yeasties, blessed with a nice, snowy-white head atop...Aroma, spicy, citric, lemon and orange, loads of zest, yeast. plenty of spices, coriander and clove, and who knows what else...nice and lively, and delicious...I’m ready to taste the damned thing! And...hmmmm, Lordy, I love it...fresh, yeasty, citric, fruity, tasty, full of deliciousness...so tasty...light to medium in body, very fresh, and zesty, tastiness personified...what a jewel, just juicy and nice..yum, yum, double yum...wow, this is a magnificent saison, I’d like to keep this in the fridge at all times, at moment’s notice, ...dee-ee-licious!

Pours a hazy gold color with a thin head. Intense citrus aroma with a fair dash of sourness. Very sour apple taste. This struck me as more of a gueze than a saison. Definitely not representative of the style, but tasty all the same.

750ml bottle: Sampled at the CTRiver Brewers Festival. This one poured a dark straw/golden color. There was a huge white head to it tht takes awhile to die down. The first thing that hits you from the aroma is peaches. Also a bit of wheat ot the nose. This beer tastes fantastic. The tastte is dry, spicy, wheaty, and those peaches are there again, but the don’t dominate nor are they sweet. A lovely beer!
