This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Molt bona cervesa, té poc aroma però el gust ho compensa tot. Muy buena cerveza, tiene poco aroma pero el sabor lo compensa todo.

Pours a golden color with a fizzy white head. Aroma peppers, maybe some bananas, a little astringent. Flavor seems off somehow. Dough/yeast for sure, with some malt but there doesn’t seem to be too much complexity. Mouthfeel is fizzy. Overall I am not a fan of this beer.

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Had this in the cellar for some time. BBD is January 2013. Clear (the first half, that is) pale gold. Thick, white, sticky, lasting head. Lots of banana. Light clove. Bubblegum. But most of all, lots of burdock. Taste is dry. Light sourness. There is a hint of strawberry sweetness underlying. Palate is chewy, yeasty smooth. Tart, dry finish. Love how this beer has altered. Fresh, it’s all bready and sour and downright weird. This is a different beer altogether. Either way, bob on. As the Belgians say.

Have had this many times. first time reviewing. Bottle at the source. Bright coors, sticky creamy head. brett astringent acetone nose. sweet wonderful chewy bitterness in taste & mouthfeel. Explosion of carbonation on the mouth swish. juicy pineapple, banana, clove. really nice.

Bottle, gift from my sister-in-law. Pour is almost identical to unfiltered apple cider vinegar in appearance. Aroma is rotten lemon rinds, old cheese, yeast funk, ammonia. Taste is dried meat, dusty earth, pepper, dry hay, fruit and cheese rinds. A rotten old woman with all the wisdom in the world. Definitely the best Saison I’ve had.

22.04.2014, 0,75l bottle @ home:
Huge fizzy longlasting head. Aroma is overloaded with co2 stinging in the nose. Behind the co2 it’s kind of floral; flowers, weeds, hay, yeast, leafs, citrus peel, banana, unripe berries. Taste is very sweet, sugar, harsh yeast, hay, flowers, caramel, weeds, even more sugar, sitrus, leafs, sap. Medium bitterness, sweet harsh mouthfeel, very very high carbination. Not my cup of tea!

Bottle from Beer Temple, Brussels. Hazy amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, pepper, hops, earthy notes, spices and fruits. Bitter finish with hops, citrus and spices. Exquisite saison.

Pours a champagne color that was crystal clear the first pour and grew hazier with each additional pour. Off white head that is light and bubbly and thick (2 inch first pour, 1 inch on second). Head faded down to half a centimeter and held there. Great lacing too. Aroma is apricot, sweet grass, dry yeasty funk. Taste is sweet grass, dry earth and aged floral hops. Surprisingly full bodied for a saison, medium-high carbonation.

750ml bottle, hazy and lightly yeasty orangey gold pour, with a generous white head. Aroma has light biscuit and caramel malt, tangerine, lemon, coriander, lime, a little brett, herbs and spice. Lots of aroma over the standard saison pitch. Carbonation average. Finish is balanced and fruity. A great beer.

Thanks to stevencon! Cloudy yellow pour with a bubbly white head. Aroma of old cat litter box, lemon peels and loads of barn funk. Fresh zesty flavor of citrus, very winter minty and herbal, barn funk and lemon heads. Bright and lively. Solid batch from Fantome!
