Hazy golden poor with lots of small but heavy deposits and a small tanned head. Aromas of grapefruit, rhubarb, avocado, tangerine peelings and a little acid..... Just smelling ths beer makes me thirsty. Definitely weird ... odd mouthfeel. First time i can honestly say i’m unable to detect any bitterness at all. Slightly sweet and very acid. Aromas weirdly reflects nicely the flavors. Nicely added lime and salt? Very awkward yet somewhat enjoyable.
WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jan 3, 2009 750ml at Stone World Bistro. Why have I not rated this yet I don’t know. I knew I hadn’t but thats not the point. Pours gold with a bright white head. Nose is big spicey and full of flavor. The taste is quite nice, full of citrus, spice and very tart, love the tartness here. sundevil27 (45), , New Jersey, USA Dec 30, 2008 I usually hold the Saison’s off until the summer, but this is the first time I’ve found this beer at a retail store so had to give it a go. And it’s a good thing I did. Light colored pour, with some fruit aroma on the nose. I definitely consider this one of my favorites in its class. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Dec 19, 2008 Haze orange with a thick head. Sweet and floral aroma - quite special and hard to pinpoint. The flavour is sweet, acid-sour and a bit spicy. It is very much its own and quite different from other types of saison I have tasted. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Dec 14, 2008 750 ml bottle purchased at Beertopia, in Omaha, and enjoyed with my Thanksgiving dinner. Pours a hazy gold with lots of fine suspended sediment. On the nose: lightly sour citrus, cobwebs & mineral water. On the light side of medium-bodied with a mildly acidic and mineral finish. The flavor follows the nose with a dry, acidic and sour finish. Although it is a touch more acidic than I would prefer, this is a nice saison. It is my favorite from Fantôme thus far. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Dec 14, 2008 Cork and capped? Poured from 750 ml bottle a light hazy orange, forming a huge white craggley foamy head. Aroma of barnyard funk goodness and spices. Flavour was of malty hopped citrus tones with spices, yeast and coriander. Exceptionally smooth, despite its sour funkiness, which adds to the lovely character of this beer. Tremendous. slimchill (771), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 7, 2008 Bottle. Aromas of deep spicy yeast character and strong citrus. Pale red-yellow with a patchy head. Sweet orange flavor and subtle spice. Heavy carbonation while still showing a silky texture. Very nice all around. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 4, 2008 75 cL bottle. Pours with a hazy yellow white head, slowly collapsing into semi broken lacing. Peachy and brett aroma and flavour. Very smooth and fruity flavoured. Mild, tasty and refreshing peachy finish.
