BBE: 05/2012 -
Pours orange with a small bubbly head. Aroma is very fruity with notes of sourness and apple. Taste is quite sour and fruity with notes of spices and apples. Slightly sweet and fruity finish. Interesting, almost sour ale like saison. Well balanced and enjoyable.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 superspak (587) - Michigan, USA - JUL 3, 2011
750 ml bottle into tulip, best before July 2013. Excited I had to get the corkscrew once again! Pours hazy orange amber color with a 1.5 finger foamy white head with decent retention that reduces to a ring of lacing. Aromas of sweet apples, pears, strawberry, and spiciness. Very nice aromas, really fruity as well. Taste of tons of apple, pear, strawberry, lemon, and spices. Finishes with some slight tartness and tons of apple, strawberry, and spice. Some notes of fruits and spices on the finish that linger for a short period of time. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied. Very smooth drinking as well, with no alcohol noticed in the taste or finish. Overall, this is just an incredible saison, and is also very interesting with the fruitiness, but is extremely drinkable and delicious.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pinball (7771) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 2, 2011

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 durhambeer (2028) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 29, 2011
Finally... what was I waiting for? If I was too cheap for the price, forget that. This is an amazing beer. Pours dark golden, increasingly hazy near the bottom of the bottle. Big, pillowy white head. So many aromas and flavors integrated here, it’s odd to pick any out -- they all work so well together. Grapes and grape skins, ash and earth, tart fruits, subtle herbs (even mint-like notes at times?!?!?). A soft palate and a dry finish. Lives up to its reputation.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tastybeer (950) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 27, 2011
Bottle. Pour is golden with an excellent white head. Aroma is fruity/spicy yeast, grass, hay, pineapple, some botanicals. Flavor is slightly tart, fruity, medicinal, some grassy hops. Palate is coating yet very light body, low bitterness. Very good.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JanLaursen (721) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 22, 2011
Pour hazy golden yellow with large white head that dies out quickly. Fresh sweet citrus aroma, slightly tart undertone. Lively, dry and fruity in the mouth. Citrus, mandarin, spicy funk. Medium bitterness. Long almost vinous and subtle aftertaste.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Slatetank (16) - York, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 18, 2011
taken from notes: Thanks very much to BA idesofmarch89 for this great beer - 750ml shared w/ my wife. Poured chilled into a a cervoise.
A - Marigold shade of golden w a full 2 fingers of white cap that dissipates completely but carbonation continues and fine beading develops
S - Sweet and sour citrus notes explode out of the glass w/ a mild white grape mixed w/ peaches and honey. The nose is light malt scent w/ tinges of floral hops
M - Crisp w/ gentle acidity and a mild sweet texture, a hint of spice and alcohol w/ moderately low carbonation for the style. The feel is nutty/sour in texture which is very juicy
T - A very taste taste like marmalade w/ lemon spritz w/ a tinge of white grape and lightly sugared lime w/ mild spice at the end w/ nutty malt/yeast complimenting this highly fruity saison. The apricot and lemony flavor w/ mild wheat-like nuttiness is smooth + seamless w/ a juicy sweet and mild sour element that is well suited to the style
D - I would drink this any time of year, not just a summer saison to me. This saison is unique and drinkable like no other. I would choose this over 4 out of 5 saisons most likely. I can’t recommend this enough - intense and slightly sour, but refreshing.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 arkurzynski (721) - West Bend, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 7, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2012 Poured into tulip. All sorts of carbonation (large and small bubbles); continues to foam and erupt from the surface. Yeast and trub. Aroma of funk, citrus. Flavor is citrus, lemon, banana, spice, yeast. A little heat on the tail-end. Ends with a nice hop bitterness.
