Bottle shared by Barry at Frank’s March tasting. Pours hazy golden with lots of carbonation accompanied by a beautiful soapy thick white head. Notes of peppers, nacho cheese, wood must, lemony fruits, and belgain spices. Crisp and sessionable. Another great beer from Fantome.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The aroma is a balanced blend of citrus fruit and acidity. Some nice white wine notes. The fruit is mostly citrus but there is also some tropical fruit. The acidity is mostly lactic but some tannic notes as well.
Pours a cloudy straw color with a bit of orange gold. Small thin white head that quickly recedes. No lacing or legs.
Flavor is similar to aroma with lots of white wine character. Starts with a light sweetness with citrus and tropical fruit. Mid palate you get the tannic acidity that really reminds me of a dry white wine. Some light bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Medium alcohol warmth and no perceptible astringency.
Overall this is such a nice saison. It's a couple years old and has developed really nicely. This is an example of the amazing Fantome not the lackluster one.

750ml bottle split between 3. Had a bit of a cold, so aroma took a wee bit of guesswork, what I could pick up were sour apples and funk, looked great in the glass - big rocky head and lacing that lasted, tasted sour and cidery, with a long sweet’n’sour finish. Seriously good beer, will need to find more.

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep peach colour with a full head. Looks great. The nose is not super fruity or funky - was expecting a bit more here given the taste. The flavours are exquisite; full bodied and tasty. Some sweet fruity stuff going on with just the right amount of yeast. The dry finish completes it perfectly - not cloying or simplistic. Overall, a marvellous saison, perhaps the best i’ve had. Would definitely hunt out more of these bastards.

Bottle in Priory Arms, Stockwell. Pours golden amber with, light haze and a big white foaming head. Nose is sweet malt grain, some fruity citrous like grapefruit, crisp sour yeast, touch of farmyard, touch of rubber, touch of baby sick. Taste is sweet grainy, grapefruit citrous, bitter hop and sour yeast. Finish is sweet grain malt and a mixture of citrous fruit sweetness and crisp sour yeast. Really grows nicely on the palate.

750mL shared by Matt (radio2525), past its best by date, but still a tasty beer, way more sour than I would have anticipated, citric is a good word to describe it, lemony type acid. well carbonated still after all these years.

For starters, this is the most carbonation I’ve ever seen in a beer. A careful pour yielded a solid 10 minutes of waiting for the foam to die down in my glass. Aromas of lemony funk, a little dirt. Heavily carbonated. Enormous head. Taste is slightly tart, lemony funk. Very tasty. This is world class.
