COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2012 Pours a cloudy orange with a nice fluffy head. The nose is fruity floral funky. Very interesting. The pallet is floral, slightly fruity with a bit of bitterness in the middle followed by a bit of funk and a little off dry sweetness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Tim. Hazy golden straw yellow. Creamy off white head that is really lasting. Very fruity beer, lots of honey, sharp acidity, light soapy flavour. REally nice.

0.75l bottle. Hazy golden body, white head. Aroma of bread, citruses, horse blanket and peach. Taste of peach, bread, cheese and some citruses. Quite bitter saison, but it’s very fruity at the same time. Truly awesome beer.

Bomber. Golden somewhat murky pour with a large initial head that dissipated quickly. Funky, leather, barnyard. Lighter palate but lots of character. Good beer.

A real treat. Pours clear golden lots of initial frothy head no lacing. Nose is barnyard and some citrus. Flavours are barnyard, orange peel, maybe some peach, some grassy bitterness. Tastes light/med bitter, light sweet and a touch of tart. Full body with lively carbonation. Really nice.

Bottle from Bier Tempel. A classic saison, sampled straight after the Dupont Bio. Quite a different animal, darker colour, cloudier, more threateningly rocky head. An extra level of ’farmhouse’ funk, fruity, citrusy, some sweat, some barnyard, somehow amazingly moreish. Must be quite some yeast they use! I like.

Bottle @ home. Giallo dorata, quasi paglierino, velata con riflessi verdognoli. Schiuma bianca fine abbastanza persistente. Aroma intenso fruttato, complesso, citrico, cantina, brett, quasi polverosa, frumento, luppolo belga. Dolce abboccato l’ingresso, fruttato, acidula poco amara. Si trovano i caratteri di una saison belga, uniti ad una dolcezza inaspettata. Poco corpo, quasi watery. Spigolosa, non molto carbonata, calda, equilibrata ed armonica.

Aroma of citrus, sweet orange, strong funky yeast, lots of barnyard aromas, tons of fruits, apricots, peach, hoppy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and a bit sour with a light bitter finish. Quite complex and well-balanced, smooth and ridiculously fruity. Probably the best Saison I’ve ever had.

Bottle with thanks to MrH. Odd that I haven’t tried this one yet... Pours hazy butterscotch, large off-white head, creamy and slow to dissipate with nice lacing in its wake. Aroma is unusual, honey for sure, fruity, grassy, malt syrups? Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, spicy and somewhat smoky, caramel, grass, honey, overripe stone fruits, pepper, perhaps a bit of funk. Medium body, high carbonation.

Bottle bought at Hopduvel, consumed at home. Pours dirty light brown, no head. Fruity smell, some yeast, berries. Taste is weard peppers, fruity, lots of spices. Not my thing.
