Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

750ml bottle: Sampled at the CTRiver Brewers Festival. This one poured a dark straw/golden color. There was a huge white head to it tht takes awhile to die down. The first thing that hits you from the aroma is peaches. Also a bit of wheat ot the nose. This beer tastes fantastic. The tastte is dry, spicy, wheaty, and those peaches are there again, but the don’t dominate nor are they sweet. A lovely beer!

Pours a hazy carbonated yellow with a white head. Sharp and spicy barnyard aroma with some cardboard and juniper. Spritzy and light on the tongue but with a good body also. Fruity with some pineapple and pear notes. Refreshing with some bitterness in the finish, lingering citrus flavors and no noticable alcohol. A slightly dirty note at the end detracts a bit. Very good though.

Slightly hazy straw colored with a small white head. Sour barnyardy aroma: hay, straw, yeast, Granny Smith apples, and flower petals. Flavor is of a slowly increasing sourness, yet with a sweet fruit/honey undertone. Light, slightly stale and sour finish. I feel like going out and working in the fields after drinking this, it is so earthy and "farm-y."

Cloudy golden color with a big white head. Very fruity almost candylike aroma. Flavor is also very fruity. But with some acidity, hop bitterness and alcohol taste. Very drinkable.

Big bubbled lasting white head on very hazy orange golden body; Very big apple, pear nose with lots of earthy strawberry, sugared lemon juice, fresh orange juice and tone of very clear exotic guava aromas, very deep, fresh and good; Very fresh apple juice sour body, deep with a very special complex sourness, very little sharp carbonation; Long very, very aroma full finish, again this sugar lemon touch, apricot juice, lots of guava and a very little Orval like brett. Very, very special, almost more like freshly squeezed juice from a thick textured fruit like apricot or guava.

Mostly clear medium golden color with a frothy white head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma is intriguing and entincing. There is a sour/vinegar/acidic thing going on, but underneath this action is a bright fresh fruit aroma. Flavor is equally inspiring if not more so. Fresh bright fruit flavors with some yeastiness and underneath is all a sour goodness that is totally understated and exactly perfect. All serious beer drinkers should seek this out.

Bottle, thanks to alexanderj. Hazy yellow / gold with white head. Aroma is a little minty, spices, barnyard, lemon rind. Good palate, slightly sweet malt, spices, slight funk, and a little mint yeastiness in the finish. Good beer overall.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with a thin off-white head. Malty and fruity aroma with a bit of tartness. Malty and yeasty flavor up front with some tart orange, a bit of apple and some hops in the finish.
