COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Palest of orange color, cloudy with bubbly white head. Intoxicating fruity perfumes began to fill the air immediately as I popped the cork on this one. Smells of strawberry, raspberry, tart cherry, tangerine, sweet tarts, juicy fruity deliciousness. Taste is like a milder version of the nose. It is hard to believe that theres not fruit added to this beer, the fruit impression is so strong. Smell is strongly strawberry or cherry but the flavors I get are more orange or lemony sweet tarts. Almost sour! Gooood. Mildly acidic, light-moderate feel with low carbonation. This beer is immensely drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable.

This beer was FANTASTIC! Poured an amber color with red sediment swirling around like a little asteroid field. Nice foamy white head, that dissipated by the time I had gotten my eyeful. Scent was of peach, with notes of alcohol. Flavors included cantaloupe, apple, and grape. Lightly dry finish that is not overly dry. Worth a second bottle to have on hand.

22oz bottle. Pours a hazy orange. Incredible smelling saison with typical fantome funk notes. Yeast, coriander and clove but a nice tart cherry aroma as well. Very creamy on the nose. Carbonation as always with Fantome is spot on. Hay, yeast, some light grassy hops and spice come at the front followed by a brisk dry cherry tartiness. Creamy finish with caramel and banana. Very complex as per usual and as usual a masterpiece.

This has always been my favorite saison. There are definitely a few who have come close, but the Fantome holds a place in my heart for introducing me to the style.

From a cellared bottle at a RateBeer tasting (thanks Joe!): Pale yellow and somewhat hazy in glass, like lemonade. Syrupy-citrus aroma with a high salty nose, tastes of bitters and grapefruit rind as well as marshmallow (the herb as well as the campfire treat). Represented by flavor of canned mandarin oranges. Memorable.

Pours hazy orange with nice thick white head. Aroma is complex and light, citrus fruit including lemon, orange, leading into some cheese and vanilla. Taste up front is complex with citrus, lemon, and vanilla leading into cheese and horse blanket with a sour component mixed in nicely with a sweet finish. Different than any other saison, a definitely mix between that and lambic, great but pricy.

This is fantastic stuff. Some where in between a lambic and a saison. Smooth very drinkable, spicy, complex. Serving: Bottle

Pours a hazy gold with a thin head that quickly clings to the glass, great lacing throughout. Aroma of champagne and hay, yeast and funk in the back. Taste follows the nose and more, fruity, tropical fruits with grapes, nice spicy notes, not as funky or sour as expected. Alcohol is not apparent. Smooth and refreshing, amazing saison!

Opens with a loud cork pop and an immediate blast of farmhouse yeast aroma. Pours a lovely straw-orange color, good clarity, 1-finger white head which recedes quickly. Yeasty aroma reveals some lemon, tropical fruit, spice and floral notes. Taste is floral, herbal, a balance of mild sweetness and sourness. Lively mouthfeel, lingers but without any heaviness.
