This is a tremendously delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

taken from notes: Thanks very much to BA idesofmarch89 for this great beer - 750ml shared w/ my wife. Poured chilled into a a cervoise. A - Marigold shade of golden w a full 2 fingers of white cap that dissipates completely but carbonation continues and fine beading develops S - Sweet and sour citrus notes explode out of the glass w/ a mild white grape mixed w/ peaches and honey. The nose is light malt scent w/ tinges of floral hops M - Crisp w/ gentle acidity and a mild sweet texture, a hint of spice and alcohol w/ moderately low carbonation for the style. The feel is nutty/sour in texture which is very juicy T - A very taste taste like marmalade w/ lemon spritz w/ a tinge of white grape and lightly sugared lime w/ mild spice at the end w/ nutty malt/yeast complimenting this highly fruity saison. The apricot and lemony flavor w/ mild wheat-like nuttiness is smooth + seamless w/ a juicy sweet and mild sour element that is well suited to the style D - I would drink this any time of year, not just a summer saison to me. This saison is unique and drinkable like no other. I would choose this over 4 out of 5 saisons most likely. I can’t recommend this enough - intense and slightly sour, but refreshing.

Bottle in Brewdog Newcastle shared with Pix. Hazy blond with a thin layer of off white froth. Rustic aroma with farmyard, lemon citrus and bread. The taste is similar - bread, lemon, yeast. Very light and refreshing. A fantastic saison.

75cl bottle. Pours an average white and frothy head; nice orange to golden juicy color with a smooth cloudiness. Smells very unique and refined: very fruity and bretty, yeasty, funky, fresh spiced, lemony, and very perfumed, wow. Tastes apple juicy, nice full yeasts, fresh herbs like mint, sweet lemon, almost remembers me a high quality lemon ice tea; the most awesome and balanced tartness which has a great fruity and sweet character, average to medium and nicely dosed sweetness, subtle and balancing average bitterness. Medium carbonated and bodied, juicy. The balance in this one it’s on the highest level, very refreshing, almost makes a style on its own. Really awesome and original stuff, if I see a bottle on the shelf becomes quite difficult not to grab it

Fra flaske på Haand Ølfestival 29 Mai 15. Delt med Rune. Aprikosfarget. Veldig uklar. Lavt skum. Tett lacing. God krydderaroma. Smaken er appelsin & søtt krydder. Behagelig øl.

Sharp aromas of cow manure. Very complex flavor. Nice cidery acidity, a floral bitterness, tons of yeast fruitiness. This is not in balance, but it is a assault on the palate...in that good way. Like Stanley Kubrick or Dostoevsky.

Rich, very yeasty, lots of funk, bread, herbs, earthy, barnyard, floral, citrus, golden colour, white head. Tart,,lots of yeastiness, medium bite, ABV well integrated. The liquid is almost like syrup in texture. What a treat.

Pours a deep and hazy golden body with a very thin head and almost no carboration. Nice funky aroma. Very nice and well balanced taste with all sort of summer tones. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a hazy orange gold with a huge soapy white head. Strong citrus aromas with lemon zest, iyokan and white grapefruit pith showing along with some pepper and that classic saison yeast nose. There is also a nice bit of tartness on the nose too. Taste is similar with lots of citrus and tart notes coming though. Great spritzy carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Finish has some lemon zest and white pepper. A world class saison. C’est manifique!
