Aroma is of strawberries??, sweet malt, almost leathery notes, hay, barnyard, bright fruit esters, black pepper, wheat and floral notes. The flavor follows the nose with that strange strawberry flavor, along with the wheat, floral notes, bright fruit esters, sweet malt, leathery notes, hay and barnyard. The body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a nice and different (or traditional I guess) Saison.

The Fantome pours a orange-hazy beer with a thin white head that disappears quite fast. The beer looks very hazy, although it has been left undisturbed for a few weeks in the cellar and for several hours in the fridge. The aroma is very fruity and has some latic-sourness present too. The beer tastes very malty and fruity with a pleasant sourness in the after-taste. It is a beer with a full-body and not too strong carbonation. Overall an excellent brew with the alcohol very well hidden. Quite unique and to some extent exotic.

Pale hazy golden pour with a thin layer of bubbly white head ... aroma of a lambic, funky barnyard, citrusy lemon and smoke .... taste is smokey and of citrusy hops, lemony with a nice spicy hop bite .... mouthfeel is sour and a little lively ... finish is dry smokey and bitter with a lingering citrusy hop bite .... definitely different with the smoke flavor ... abv hidden well like saison meets lambic

Poured from bottle into a tulip. Hazy orange color with a fluffy white head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is bandaids and more bandaids. Am I at the doctor’s office? Flavor is more bandaid funk with some hints of fruit. God this is fucking awful. Light mouthfeel with adequate carbonation. I hope this is a bad bottle, otherwise I have lost all faith in Rate Beer ratings...

Bottled 750ml. -Murky orange coloured, medium sized white head, sourish spicy nose. Sweet, fruity and very spicy with hint of peach and passion fruit. Relatively complex and not so alcoholic as I’ve expected.

Tried this fresh and was floored. So funky and musty with lots of fruity Esther’s. There is a light lactic tartness and crazy complexity.

Hazy golden orange, white head. Nose is pear, leather, canned peaches, hay, funk. Taste is light pear, funk, booze, very light spices, funky yeast. banana. Light tartness and bitterness in finish. Smooth mouthfeel.

Awesome to buy this off the shelf in Florida. The aroma is very delicate and subtle. This has a very rustic & earthy flavor. Very different from the commercial description that states fruity & sour as flavors. Decent Sasion, just decent.

Bottle at home (april 14, 2013). Hazy dark orange with white head and nice lacings. Aroma of sweet candy-like strawberry, Citrus, fruity esters and some peaty notes. Taste has in the beginning a yeasty bitterness. Spicy banana, pear and lemon peel. Musty, sweaty, almost salty and peaty aftertaste. Some sweet caramel at the end. Mouthfeel is full and a bit sticky but well carbonated and refreshing. Really interesting, great!

Bottle from fresh batch, this year or last year’s, 04/14/2013. Pours hazy orange gold, dense white head, soapy lacing left behind around the ring of my glass. Aroma is light orange, green apples, pepper spices, grainy must with earthy, funky yeast. Taste is pear and light fruitiness with very subtle tartness, big toasted grain notes dominate, yeast, herbal aftertaste hard to identify yet somehow familiar, all bone dry. Medium palate, nice carbonation. Definitely solid and a classic, but varies a lot from bottle to bottle- this one must have been very young before a lot of the typical Fantome characteristics developed.
