4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared with akax25g tomprepare for week 3 of the government shutdown. Murky golden color, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dusty peach skins, light grapefruit, straw. Taste is funky barnyard, stone fruit, citrus, dry finish. Very tasty.

From the bottle. Big thanks to Travlr! Small white head adorning a cloudy amber libation. Not a huge aroma, but certainly some funk, lemon, and strawberry. Med body, lots of carb. Taste is similar to nose but more assertive. Has some sweetness. Awesome stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a three finger thick, light tan colored head. The beer is a gold tinged, full amber color that shows a lightly hazed, orange-tinged, honey color when held up to the light. The aroma has a nicely herbal, lemon leaning hoppy note that is backed by a straw and cracker like malt character. Slightly musty, maybe just a hint of oxidized malt that accentuates the mustiness a touch, but this is quite well preserved, and there is almost a woody like note as well as a light herbal / spiciness to the nose. As the beer warms up a orange-zest aromatic note becomes more noticeable, and the cracker like malt character starts to play more of a role here as well.
Fairly light bodied, which works nicely with a bright up front hoppiness that has an herbal edge to it, while the finish has some dusty, slightly oxidized malt character to it that lingers with a lightening, light tartness and the herbal / bitter hop character. Up front this has nice bitter hop bite to it as well. This has a woody flavor to it that almost suggests of oak, and the finish has a bright, black pepper like character to it that continues the oak like suggestions. The light tartness and hop character definitely contribute to a light lemon-zest like flavor in this beer. The malt character combines with the herbal hop notes to produce / accentuate a dried hay, or even some spicy floral like notes. As the beer warms up there is perhaps a slight metallic edge to the hop character. The citrus note seems to lean a bit more towards orange zest as it warms up too. The totality of the hop character seems to have a nice floral character to it.
This still has a bright hoppiness to it that works quite well. Still surprisingly good, I like the light tartness, which also seems to be hop accentuated, as well as the light texture and character.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 06/08/2013. Pours hazy, burnt orange, medium fine-bubbled head, fades to a nice crema on the surface, dense lacing around the glass. Aroma is mild orange and pear notes, hard-candy sweetness, honeyed yeast, coriander with pale malts, well-developed Fantome funk. Taste is honeyed white fruit, citrus, herbal pepper bitterness, grassy hops with a bit of pine, rustic barnyard notes with dry bready malts. Medium body. Pretty decent, quite liked this one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
An amber colored libation with an off-white head. Opens up with apple and pear notes followed by a lot of bread. A surprising amount of alcohol to it, too. Some notes of yeast and grass, but overall sort of bland on the nose. The flavor is similarly unimpressive. Note much in the way of the flavorings, just some sweet bread and maybe a few fruit notes.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared by lushawn at DLD ’12- thanks a lot, Shawn! Pours a hazy orange color with a modest off-white head that doesn’t stick around very long. Notes of apricot, citrus fruit, coriander and other mild spices, grains, wheat, funk, and earth. Rustic all-around. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a fruity, earthy, rustic mouthfeel. Neat beer. Thanks, Shawn!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle at Fantome-a-thon 2012.
Pours hazy amber, low beige head, no retention. Everything about this beer is similar to regular Fantome saison with some extra caramel character; even the coriander isnt any stronger than the spice flavor that usually comes through in a regular Fantome saison. Sweet, medium bodied, not bad but certainly not the best of the Santé series.
