4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle shared by Lushawn. Orange-golden color. A bit of haze. Aroma is strongly of pine needles, has a sharp resiny bite to it, could be hops but if so not like any hoppy aroma I’ve experienced. Maybe a touch of underlying anise is bringing out that sharpness. Flavor is pine and fruit. Citrusy in every way. Tangerine and lemon. Some sort of fresh herb. Thyme, or basil. Big and bright on the tongue. Light bitterness in the finish does a great job of bringing out other favors. A touch of licorice in the finish. Off the charts complexity typical of a Fantome beer. Light straw barnyard funk accenting the sharp acidity. Each element is well integrated together, playing off one another. Too many good things to say about this. Incredible stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy pear-gold, initially large white head reduces to a substantial foam top, lace climbing up the glass. Nose is ultra-bright fruit, tons of peach and grapefruit, nearly caustic it’s so bright, a little rustic bran and booze, not entirely dissimilar to Strange Ghost, but waayyyyy brighter, the contrast a lot more enticing. Warmth reveals a bit of white pepper, balanced in a Pinot D’Aunis way, and also some bitter wheat unseen in the masterpiece from Cantillon. I initially thought there was the lightest diacetyl sweetness bridging the nose and palate, but with warmth its soft peach sweetness, tons of juicy flesh. The front has the warm fruit sweetness, which dries by mid-palate where tons of dry wheat and grain take over alongside black pepper dust before a dirty, lightly sour unripe pear and white grape note win the finish. Very nice overall, a few empty patches by comparison to the intense fruit notes, but uniquely rustic, complex, and refreshing... that’s everything I want in Fantome.

Thanks Travlr! This beer is out of control! Borderline gusher with a monster white head. The aroma is incredible: like pure citrus and grapefruit juice mixed with buckets full of nectar fruits. Tropical fruits and delicious funk follow to create a hell of a beer.
