2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Huge, rather dense & creamy white head over fully muddy peach-coloured beer. Phenolic, tarry nose with a citrussy lining. Plastic, smelling rather chemical... Very serious phenols, woodstainer, bitter fruit and citrus- and/or walnutpeel. Wry bitterness keeps lingering. Astringent, and not a little bit at that. refreshing it is, OTOH. Not very-well bodied. Aftertaste is (smoked) soap. Definitely one gone too far in the smoked-phenolic direction to be enjoyed at best.

Stouts III Tasting. Cloudy gold beer, big white head. Palate is light and dry. Fine minerally carbonation. Pretty nice generic fruits are soon overpowered by white smoke. Citric peel hop bitterness before the dry finish. Typically Fantome left field.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, 04/26/2013. Opens with a mighty pop. Pours hazy golden orange, huge frothy head, fades to a foamy island on the surface, sticky soapy lacing. Aroma of coarse grains, white bread, banana esthers, lemon cake and yeast, light floral bitter hoppiness. Taste is smoky grains and hay, light sourness and funk, bitter bitter grassy herbs, soapy aftertaste. Medium palate. Uh. Brassin tout à fait special, indeed.

22/IV/13 - 75cl swing top bottle @ Rampkrot (Deurne) - BB: V/2016 (2013-359) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle!
Very cloudy murky beige beer, big aery irregular head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: hay, stable, grains, bit lemony, floral, little fruity with hints of peaches and apple skin. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: very yeasty, smoke, funky, it’s a typical Fantôme all right! ;-) A bit fruity, bitter, grassy hops. Aftertaste: floral, bitter, chemical, very funky yeasty ending. Sorry Dany, this is not my cup of tea. :(

Too large Sample from 75cl bottle courtesy of 77ships @ Post Toer de Geuze/kraddel tasting, bedankt! -
Pours a lactic cloudy yellow-green with a rather disconcerting aroma of lemon perfume cleaning detergent - yet still leaves some rooms for enticement and posible surprise. Taste combines an extremely odd infected range of soapy hops and a whole range of lactic acids, indefinite herb bitterness, and to round that taste bud twister of a concoction off, some smoke in the back. Both qualifiers in the name are misleading, as this is rather another weird saison than a triple, and rather a masochist’s than a gourmet’s dream - unmistakeably Fantôme, though (for the fans), but so far my first I preferred not to finish.
