Bottled. Dark pour, almost black with a Coca-Cola colord head. Licorice and cocoa aromas. Dry and musty flavor with some chocolate. Rather watery.

Bomber. Pours a clear dark brown with an off white head. Hazelnut and caramel nose. Medium body and carbonation. Roasted nuts and chocolate in the taste, with a piney finish.

Bomber, thanks to the kind hospitality of BitBucket. This might be the last one for the rest of our lives, and more’s the pity. Pours a deep grainy black. Moussy but thin burnt tan head. A little clingy lace. Big roasty and chocolatey nose. Forward attack with nice big body, active carb, strong flavors (same as nose). Awesome.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GG (1980) - NorCal, California, USA - MAY 22, 2006
Intersesting beer here. I was caught off guard by the flavors of this beer, almost being wine-like in character. Aroma was buttery, malty sweet, chocolate and toffee. Flavors had some roasty bitterness to it, but it was also rather vinuous. I think it would take awhile for a porter like this to grown on my, but it has the potential to do so.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (6736) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 19, 2006
Draught Black beer with a yellow-transparent head. Coffee, espresso, coffee dregs, bittersweet nose. Black coffee again, ink, mushrooms or black-roasted peppers without the capsicaine burn. Burning MF all the same, medium bodied, but giving a (false) very dense impression. It’s just falling short of excellence points; Cutting corners or wanting to water the style?
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 25, 2006
Bottled. Very dark ruby, near black. Rich creamy head. Medium sweet with fairly clean mouthfeel. The flavours fills the mouth - there is aromatic grapefruit and licorice. The finish is dryish and fairly bitter. A well balanced porter of the highest quality.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2006 This was my favorite beer at the Strange Brewfest at Water Street Brewing in Port Townsend, WA. Pleasant surprise to find out I don’t work too far from where this brew pub is... Great espresso taste and smell. Like someone dropped a shot of steaming coffee right in my beer. Very black... Loved this. 9.4.9.4.19 - 4.5 first rate.
Re-rating from the bottle; bought at K’s Deli. Close to black...more extremely dark red. Medium head. Wonderful aroma of lots of chocolate and coffee. This is still one of the best espresso flavors I’ve ever gotten from a beer. Starts off a bit sweet and wine-like as some have described. Finishes with roasted malts and good espresso. Definitely a thin beer..wish it was thicker. I love this beer though and will be going to buy what the bottle shop has left, as I believe this brewery is out of business.

Draught pint at Redbones on 12/16/05, listed as "Far West Ireland Porter". Pours a deep, seemingly hazy brown-black with deep ruby-magenta highlights and a beige-tan head that is moderately well-retained, but eventually recedes to a ring, yet laces quite profusely. Aroma: Diacetyl!! Wow, it’s shockingly full of buttercream. The butter is well integrated with the creamy-sweet malts, light chocolate and toffee, however and it’s passable. Light lactic notes of dryness as well. Flavor is at once buttery, creamy-sweet and lightly oily/lactic on the end. Moderate amount of roasted bitterness complements the rich malts, while the body is fairly full, but a high amount of carbonation, and large, loose bubbles at that, seem to break it apart a bit. A hint of dry earthiness, maybe a touch of tobacco. Butter is, again, manageable here. Light lactic tartness lingers on, with brief stints of chocolate and berry skin esters. No alcohol apparency. Seems like a dry or sweet stout moreso than a porter.

Bottle. Deep brown in color. Decent sized and long lived light brown head which leaves fantastic lacing behind. Aroma is overroasted grains, chocolate, coffee and a touch of smokiness. Medium bodied but with a watery mouthfeel at times. Rich chocolate followed by astringent dark grains which is set upon by a rather aggressive bitterness. Perhaps a touch of sourness? Really rather well done, perhaps a bit more body.
