2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Beer pours a well carbonated deep amber borderline red color. Off white 3 finger frothy head mellows into a decent off white tight bubbled ring. The initial aroma right out of the fridge was very grainy, sour maltish. As it warmed and was aerated there was a raisiny sweet characteristic and maybe a slight caramel note that rose to the surface. Initial taste has decent carbonation, slight caramel notes at the front of the mouth that fades quickly, finishes with a slightly bitter astringency and then comes through with a bit more weak caramel. The beer is very light. There is not a ton of body. Some weak lacing on the glass. As the beer warms it definitely gets more of a grainy unpleasant scent. This is not a great beer and not a good example of the style. Not the beer that should represent Fargo or North Dakota. One thing to note…this brewery just started brewing their own beer in Fargo. The bottle I am reviewing is from the Sand Creek Brewing Company that they contracted to brew for them until they had their own brewery going. Lets hope that the Fargo produced beer is significantly better because if its not, they will not go far. When the head brewer or “brewmaster” makes public comments about brewing outstanding beer and his palate is the quality control, then you better produce. I look forward to re reviewing this beer in the near future.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draft at Rhombus Pizza. Pours brown with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Slight caramel note on the tongue. Maybe a hint of malt sweetness on the tongue. Watery. Probably not the beer North Dakota would want to be represented by.

Thanks to 5000. This is my 50th and final state. Brown with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee and some light peat notes. The flavor is more of the same. There is some watery toffee, as well as some nuts and a decent amount of sugar. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
