COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Patterned after the rich, smooth, malty ales of Scotland, Stone’s Throw is dominated by caramel toffee, toasty malt, hints of cocoa, residual honey sweetness and just enough hops to keep this rock on the button. The perfect brew for someone new to craft beer. Cheers, skip!

Aroma - caramel, toffee, toast, and dash of cocoa. Appearance - the body is a clean deep mahogany. Head starts at about 1/2", and settles into a film. Taste - light caramel, toffee, toast, and a touch of cocoa. Palate - light body, thin feel, average carbonation, abrupt finish.

Can... Pours hazy and copper with no head. The aroma features toasted malts and a hint of vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with nearly expired carbonation. Mostly, this just tastes lightly acidic and tangy. There are some toasty and malty notes, but an infection has taken hold and really dominates here. Thin, tangy finish. Ah well, it happens. Can courtesy of Bvery! <--- Not his fault

12 ounce can into pint glass, purchased at the brewery on 11/13/2015. Pours crystal clear deep reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, plum, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malts; with light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, plum, apple, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/roast, plum, apple, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malts; with light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/silky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very nice Scottish ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malts; and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering, and extremely well done for the style.

Received in trade, thanks for the tick gregwilsonstl! Slightly hazy deep copper bordering on brown with a decent sized but short lived bubbly off white head. Initially some sulfur on the aroma but that gives way to a sweet smoky fruity affair with a hint of bitter toffee or butterscotch and hints of metal. The flavor is about the same. Glad to have tried, but also glad to finish this.

Sampled at GABF 2015. I thought this beer was a decent rendition of a Scottish ale. Roasted and caramel malts help give a decent malt backbone. Subtle coffee and chocolate. Easy drinking.

Can at home. Pour is hazy amber with a small white head and decent lacing. Tangy, husky, corny, somewhat caramelly, bready, and grainy aroma. Taste is brown sugar, grains, husky, bready, slightly sweet, straw, and caramel. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Meh.

12 oz. can. It pours a dark reddish brown color with a disappearing khaki head. The aroma is interesting and rich with plum, fig, dates, honey, toffee and light notes of cocoa. The flavor is light and a bit watery with some plum, honey and hints of roast before a thin, carbonic finish. Not bad, but it could’ve benefited from more residual malt sugars.

Not the greatest aroma on the open, but not offensive either. Just malty. Lots of caramel in this one, with a bunch of malt and sweetness. Isn’t a style I typically enjoy, and this one doesn’t do anything for me either. I don’t get as much booze off of it as I’d thought to expect. Just sweet molasses on the finish.
