This is actually a pretty awful beer. The hops are over-roasted, and it’s effervescent aroma of bilge water hangs around for quite a while. It is filtered from the Tigris river so...hehe...it does have a lot of body!

500 mL can thanks to travlr. The ever elusive Iraqi tick. Clear yellow lager, smells like a lighter, much worse Brooklyn lager with touches of nut, diacetyl, and plastic. Yeahhhhh.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 MrChopin (2213) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 6, 2012
tepid gold, light white ring. Light toast and rice, bit oily with light grain and faint grass. Light citrus, paper, grain and corn before stronger paper and glue elements through the end. Flat, empty finish.

Can. Hazy gold color, small white head. Aroma of slightly sour straw. Taste is smooth, only slightly bitter. Not bad.

500mL can with a big thanks to Travlr. Pic coming soon! Pours clear straw with medium carbonation- nice white foam sticks around in a layer. Small lace. Nose is sweet almond paste, sugar, older marzipan. Not bad. Taste is watery, a bit dull, some muted hoppiness, mild astringent bitterness, sugar, lemon. Finishes with some mild chemicals and plastic. Actually a decent attempt at bittering hops.

Clear yellow pour with a ring of a white head. Toffee and caramel in the nose. Very inoffensive with carapils and toffee malt. Not too good though...

Thanks to Beirkrug for this very hard to get beer. Better than most of the African beers he brings home that is for sure.

The 500 ml can is certainly a nice drink in Iraq. It’s fresh with a hint of citrus and has a light bitter after taste.
Despite being local, the can of Iraqi national colors is not sold by all the alcohol-shops in Sulaymaniya.

500 ml can picked up in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. It is about time that Iraq again brewed beer again. Pours a cloudy gold color with a lasting foamy white head. Citrus, malt, and spices. Taste is malt, some fruity citrus, and some spicyness. Palate is smooth and mellow this is not a bad beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 19, 2002
An Iraqi beer who have travelled a long way through the desert to reach me. I must admit not to have expected to much from it. It has deep golden colour, not soapy yellow as in my prejudices. Fruity aroma. Surpisingly it has chewy maltiness and crystal malt character. It is clean, medium bodied and medium sweet, and finishes with low bitterness. Actually a tasty and well made lager.
