Clear dark red brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt malt, light coffee, smoke - tar - chimney - ash notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101122]

Bottled. Burgundy coloured. Small brown head. aroma of light roast, sweetness, spice, medicin. flavour of medicin, sweetness, vague roast. quite thin bodied. light roasted spiced and sweet bitterness in the end.

Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, dark bread and a dry, generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Solid and well made stout.

Cask at the Thurrock Beer Festival. Almost black with a frothy tan head. Earthy aroma. Earth and good bitterness, hints of caramel and fruit. Medium body. Decent.
