COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - October.
The hop harvest in September provides a unique opportunity to brew a beer with fresh hops gathered directly from the hop bine because hop flavour and aroma degrade during drying packing and storage. This beer uses wild hops for aroma which have been collected from gardens and hedges around Maldon which are luscious green when first picked – hence the name King Green Bitter.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of phenols, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a hazy amber with a frothy off-white head leaving some laces. Sweet caramelish and nutty aroma with a whiff of citrusy hops. Medium body, some roast and nuts with an ashy touch. Dry finish, again with a little citric hoppiness. Surprisingly good. 030511

Slightly hazy deep amber beer, small white head. Small black bits in the bottom of the glass. Crisp dry palate. Possibly infected? A definite tangy Belgian yeasty cola thing going on. A touch of hops. It’s not completely unpleasant and I really like the idea of the gathering of wild hops but this doesn’t taste as I think it was intended. Must try another!
